Question about TPMS, from Steel to alloy wheels

I bought a really nice set of TRD Off Road Wheels with only a 1000 miles on them. My question is can I take the TPMS from my steel wheels and put them on the Alloy wheels. The guy I bought the wheels from said I could but the dealer said they are different. Any help would be appreciated.

 

They are different. The alloy wheels require different tmps but any of the tacoma alloy tpms should work. I think You can even use tpms from other toyota alloy wheels, I'm not sure which ones though. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay. I'm running 06 4runner sport wheels with the original tpms that came with the wheels and they work with my tacoma.

As said they are different angles 20 degrees vs 40 degrees but you can buy a strap kit.

If you buy other sensors, they will have to get reprogrammed into the tpms ecu. It only holds 5 numbers.

 

Yea, I forgot to mention they need to be reprogrammed. Cost me 95.00

If I were to buy tpms sensors removed from a 2008 Tacoma, would they automatically be tuned to work with my 2010 or would they need to be retuned?

 

They're different...I just sold my stock set of tires to a guy who is swapping out his steel wheels for my alloy wheels. The guy says Toyota is asking for 65 bucks a sensor...he's trying to get me to pay for the sensors haha yeah right buddy!!!
