Getting ready for new rims, need input

I'm getting ready to get some new rims and have it narrowed down to 2 choices (going with discount tire due to convenience):

MB 72 (17x8.5) $110ea:

Raceline Monster (17x9) $150ea:

I have Duratrac 265x65x17 tires on right now, I'm wondering how these wheels will sit compared to stock sport rims (that I have now). I would like the wheels to come out to the wheel wells at least but not stick out obnoxiously far. Which one will give that "just right" look? (also plan on 3" lift in near future too). Thanks

We need to know the backspacing or offset of the wheels in question in order to tell you how far they will stick out over stock....

I like the Raceline Monster. Go with 4.5" BS and -12 offset. You should be good

EDIT: Well, looks like Keith is here. My services are no longer needed. Gibbee!

How do I find out the BS? It's not on discount tire's website, can I just request certain backspacing? Also, do the different rim sizes have any considerations (17x9 vs 17x8.5)? Thanks

Post a link to the webpage for each rim. They likely have the offset listed somewhere on there. You can calculate backspacing from offset and rim width.

The MB 72's have -6 offset (17X8.5 6-139.7 -6MTB), which is 4.5" backspacing on a 8.5" rim. that means they will stick out about 2" more than your sport rims, which are 5.5" backspaced and 7.5" wide.

The Monsters are 0 offset, which on a 9" wide rim is 5" BS. They will also stick out 2" more than stock. 0.5" due to backspacing, and 1.5" more due to width.

According to the Goodyear website, the duratracs don't come in 265/65/17. If you actually have 265/70/17's, the website notes they are not approved for any rim wider than 8.5".

My duratracs are 265/70/17s, thanks for the correction. And thanks for the other info too, that was quick and easy to understand even for me, tacomaworld rocks! Looks like I'm going with the MB 72's, don't wanna mess around with anything that's not "approved", also will save me some coin. Thanks again

New MB 72 wheels

I just bought new 16" MB 72's and had them mounted to 265/75/16 BFG KM2's. I really like this combo. I'm getting my Tacoma lifted this weekend and will post pictures.
