Tire size question

I have a '10 DCSB TRD Sport with the rear TSB springs done and ToyTec Coilovers on the front set at 1.75". Right now I'm still running the stock tires and wheels but I'm wanting to go up in size on the tires. The first obvious choice is a 265/70/17 but I'd like something a bit larger. Anybody running 275/70/17 tires with this same lift? I'll be staying with stock wheels for now. I'm hoping that the rubbing would be minimum and possible be taken care of with wheel spacers. I looked at some 255/75/17 which would be an option, but I like the wider aspect/height ratio of the 275's better.

Hmmmmm. No love here. I guess I should ask mundane questions like what color rim goes best with MGM or something to that effect and this thread would go 20 pages at least.

Not 100% but my moms boyfriend has a 06 with 285r17 which is 33" tire I believe but he has some 3" spacer lift. So from sounds of it a 275 would work but if you didn't mind a little trimming of plastic a 285 could fit probably. Cab mount chop will be determined after you take it offroad. Again sorry I don't have better answer. Just kinda beat around a bush. Hope it helps though

 

With no lift, 275's or 285's will be pretty tight. There have been folks on here that fit 285's with no lift, but if you even plan to go over some speedbumps, you have no room for it. I suggest staying with 265's or getting a lift with 275's/285's.

I know about the tire size calculator quite well. It doesn't answer the question. The calculator doesn't know if the tires you choose are going to rub on mud flaps, UCA's or whatever.

You can run 255/80/17 with a 2.5" lift

 

Yeah. And I saw the other post here from yesterday regarding that size tire. I only have the front sett at 1.75". I know the other guy went with the 255/80/17 with the same amount of lift, but you're even more limited to the tire selections available in that size. I did a lot of careful measuring and I'm comfortable with the 255/75/17's I just ordered. I went with the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 2.
Contrary to "some" peoples opinions, I researched it here quite extensively before asking. Never got any answers so i went with my gut feeling on the 255/75/17

 

so you can go taller but they need to be skinnier? i guess that does make sense. i think most trucks looks better like that anyway, more like the old landcruisers did. plus the skinnier tires are better in mud and snow

 

Exactly. Otherwise you need wheel spacers like Spidertrax or something. The 255's are only 3/8" narrower. Sometime take a look at your UCA and it's relation to the tire width and you'll see what I'm talking about.

 

yeah i like the way most trucks look when the tires dont stick way out, prob better gas mileage too.

 

And just for the record, I'm installing Spidertrax 1.25" spacers regardless. I like the look of the wheels pushed outwards anyways so it'll just give me that much more clearance.

 

Yeah, the narrower tires don't tend to cut into your gas mileage like the wider tires do.
