I just bought a 2004 tacoma. 3 inch lift. it has 10 inch wide wheels and 33x12.5x15 tires. needless to say they rub like hell. i want to go with a 17 inch wheel and run a 285 70 17 tire. what width and backspacing should i get to make it look flush with the fender flares?

How far does the wheel (not the tire, the actual wheel) stick out from the fenders now? And what's the backspacing of the current wheel?

ill have to take one off this evening to measure the back spacing. the actual wheel sticks out probably 1.5 to 2 inches past the factory fender flares. Im gonna go with the Ultra Mavericks, were getting a great deal on them where i work. i can get a set for under 475 bucks. But they do offer two offsets and backspacing on a 8'' wide wheel.
    Backspacing Offset
    234-7883B* 17x8 4 1/2 0 6-5.5
    235-7883B* 17x8 4 7/8 +10 6-5.5

I'd like the tires to stick out maybe an inch from the fender flare. Which should i go with?

I don't think either of those are going to stick out past the fender flare. Stock backspacing for first gens is 4.5 on a 7" wide wheel. So even the first selection of those two will only stick out 1" further than a stock truck.
