Stock 16" alloys fit TRD Sport?

As the title says, I thought all 6 lug Tacoma wheels are interchangeable, but I keep hearing TRD Sports have bigger calipers?

So in short, just to make sure, I can replace my 17" TRD Sports on my 07 DC Sport with either 16" TRD Off Road/SR5 wheels or 16" Tacoma base steel wheels without any issues?

If I buy either of those two, will the hub caps, lug nuts and TPMS fit and therefore can be transferred? Thanks a lot. Don't have too much time to search this time as I'm looking at a few adds now, and just want to be 100% sure.

 

i have the 16" off roads on my sport. i decided to keep them when i traded in my 2006 sr5 tacoma with the tires i had bought a month beforehand. I will be going back to the 17's or aftermarket 17's soon

 

Oh good, so I suppose there is not any difference in brakes then between Sports and Off Road versions even between different model years...

Since the above mentioned deal fell through, how about 2000-2006 Tundra 16" wheels? They look similar to 16" TRD Off Road/SR5 wheels. Does anyone have them on a 2nd gen Tacoma? What is they BS and Offset for these? Will the rub calipers, how would the sit? Thanks again.

i dont see why they wouldnt fit... im seen sequoia wheels on tacomas.

 

Bumping this thread. I just bought a pair of stock TRD Off-Road rims from a guy- 16's, and tried to mount them up on my 2009 TRD Sport with no luck- brake caliper rub. Super suck.

 

@@alshead-Are you the original owner of your Tacoma? If not check to see if previous owner maybe put Tundra calipers on the truck to give it better stopping capabilities. I have read where some owners do that as it is doable. otherwise they should fit. I have 16" OR on my Sport w/o any issues.

 

Not original owner, but they are stock OEM calipers. Done a bunch of research and it's pretty common. Apparently, some sports have he bigger calipers, some don't. Kinda like the leaf spring issue- maybe they figure some people needed them, some didn't?

 

I know it's a super old thread but anyone running these Wheels on a 2nd Gen Taco...? Can you post up or P.M. Pic..!

 

We just tried putting on tacoma 16" factory alloys on our 2008 TRD sport and they don't fit (caliper rub). Big bummer as my son just had the wheels powder coated and we were going to go with the General 265/75/16 tire. (We just installed the complete OME lift). I have done a lot of searching the boards on this topic and it does seem to happen from time to time. I wish we knew previously! Would the spidertrax wheel spacers solve this issue? Any downsides? Or should we just stick with the 17" wheel and pick a good tire for that one?
