have a guy local that has a great deal on some nice super swamper 35/12.5-16.5 tires... wondering if i would have to re gear or do any kind of mods to run these on my 02' taco prerunner 3" lift, 3.4L w/K&N cold air intake.. currently running 285/70/16.... yes I know i will have to get different rims because the tires are 16.5....

and if they would rub or not? do not want to do any cutting mods to wheel wells.........IM not off roading so keep that in mind...

they wont fit with stock fenders and a 3" lift, you would need to trim/cut alot of your fender and inner fender lining or run glass fenders, even then you would need a cab mount chop(atleast on 2nd gens, not sure what they do on the first gens) and yes you would need a regear for sure

    ^Those are 35" tires?

EDIT< I can fit 35" tires without trimming, but that is only because I have LT up front.

you guys are lucky, we have to do alot more work to fit big tires.

Are you sure? This guy has LT and he still had to do what i posted above.

Not completely accurate because of the difference in wheelbase of the trucks...a 2gen on 35s is like a 1st gen on 33s in terms of angles...a 1st gen on 35s would be like a 2gen on 37s.

Could you explain a little more? I thought the 2nd gens just had bigger wheel wells, therefore making it easier to fit bigger tires. Always open to learn new things.

Tire size isn't everything. Wheelbase length plays into it. A smaller tire on a shorter wheelbase gives the same effect as a larger tire on a longer wheelbase. Body overhang also plays a role.

Do some googling on approach, breakover, and departure angles.

This is why Suzuki Samurais can get away with ridiculous shit running 31 inch tires that makes guys in pickups on 38s cry.

Right, but probably not more work than a 2genner fitting 37s, is my point.

In other words, if you want a certain level of capability out of your vehicle, there's just a price.

Wow the thread blew up lol... no way im cutting/chopping my wells... so out with the 35's and in with 33's which i know will/should fit so here are my choices. Which of the following would be the least amount of wear and tear on the ball joints and other parts, keeping in mind I want the wide look here..

#1 33/13.30 15 on 15x10 wheels or (15x12 hear these are harder on the joints?)
    #2 33/12.50 17 on 17.9 wheels

I say option 2, why do you want a wide look?
