I currently have a new set of 275/70-17 Silent Armors. Goodyear's website shows the "acceptable rim width" as 7 - 8.5". Would it be a bad idea to try to have these mounted on a 9" wide rim? Most of the 17" rims I like are 9" wide. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I can see both of the above points. The reason I am asking is my summer set are 275/55-20 on a 9" wide rim. These tires fit fine and do not look "stretched" as described by AUDITECH.
