    My 2012 Sport TRD came with 17 inch rims and tires. Am considering purchasing a set of studded winter 16 inch rims and tires (same size at the TRD off road version) to save some cash.

    Any disadvantage to my line of thinking?

    A dub is a large wheel, usually 22" and up. I'm a bit confused by whippers post, but the answer to your question is no, there's no disadvantage to what you're considering.
