Hard to beat the durability and quality of a Toyo tire. I have put over 30K on mine (mixed highway, around town, off-road/work on the ranch) and as much as I would love to swap them out for a larger, more aggressive tire, I just can't justify it; my tires still have years of life left in them. Matter of fact, before we traded my wife's Explorer in for the Rav4, she put over 60K on her Open Countries in 4 years and I we were just beginning to consider a new set. We are currently running Toyo Open Country HT on the Rav; it's a highway tread, and they do great in wet conditions. My next tire will be a taller set of Toyo ATs or MTs, unless I find a better deal on a set of Cooper ST or STT.

I literally have no complaints about the Toyo ATs. They are great on all road conditions, and mine have seen there fair share of mud and rocks. I have never felt as if my tires "failed" me.

I know a few people with way over 50k on their Nittos and they are very happy.

Since you are asking us to choose between only two, I picked the one I have owned before... the Toyo... I was very happy with them on my '05 Tacoma on and off road and would get them again if my selection was that limited. No flats for the 35,000 miles I had them. They still had more life to them, but I don't like pushing the tire once most of the tread was gone. Replaced them with Cooper Discoverer ATRs, which was equally as good as the Toyos, no flats... and as much mileage or more (traded the truck for my 2010 with them on it.).

Current tire on my 2010 are Hankook Dynapro ATm's and very happy with their all terrain and highway performance. I did get a rock puncture, but we were running fast at full pressure... best to have dropped to 20 psi on those lava covered graded roads in Baja!

Just an observation. I researched and seriously considered the Nitto's. I read over and over outside of TW how they didn't last and people were not happy with that. Also like 5 people I know that had them or knew people that had them said the same thing. Now on TW everyone says they're great. Could it be that the Taco is lighter allowing them to last longer? Most of the reviews were from people with full sized trucks and the people I know also were on full size. I love the look of them and hear how great they are on the road but was very discouraged at all the talk of bad tread life.

Starting over with a new GMC AT4 Satin Steel Metallic Softopper, Bilstein 5100's @ 1.75 in the front, TSB Rear, 17x8.5 Lvl 8 Guardians, 265/70-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W, Scooped, Anytime fog mod, Osram Nightbreakers, LED Interior lights, Debadged, Painted valance, Removed rear head rests, De-flapped, Hidden Hitch installed, Weather Techs, Flyzeye'd A/W/A, Cover Kings.
My two local tire shops carry both of these and both say the Toyo is far superior in build quality.

I just took off my Toyo ATs with 53k miles on them and still have 20+% on them. Not agressive enough for Baja so now I run General Grabber MTs. I loved my Toyos on the road though.
