Will a 4.77in back spacing work

Im wanting to go with a 20x12 & all I can find for my 2011 Tacoma (6 on 5.5) is a 4.77in back space. I wanna make sure they'll work, & not hit the caliper or anything else for that matter. Has anyone went with a 20x12, & if so what dimensions far as offset & back spacing? Thanks

 

20x12"? That wayyyyyyy to wide unless your are running a 37x15 or something like that. What size tire do you want to run, on how much lift?

 

12" wide wheel? Most people run 8 or 9" width. I like 7.5" myself.

More info needed on planned tire size and suspension.

 

Just looked at his profile and he's apparently already running a 10" wide wheel with 265s. Lucky to not have popped a bead yet.

Installing Fabtech stage III 6in lift with 35x12.5x20 Nitto Mud Grapplers. And yes the tires will blow up on the 12in wide wheel, and no i'm not worried bout busting the bead off the rim. The only time you need to worry bout that is if you're going to be going off road. Even then you'll be fine, just lower the tire pressure. I just need to know if the 4.77in back space will hit the caliper. It's mostly going to be a show truck, thanks for any info on the wheels only!!

 

Hitting the caliper has nothing to do with backspacing, it has to do with spoke design of the particular rim. Ive never heard of any 20s not clearing the caliper.

What you really need to be worried about with the backspacing is the tires hitting the uca, but seeing as how you are running them on an incredibly wide rim (nitto website recommends a 10" wide rim for that size mud grappler) it will pull the tires far enough away from the uca where you will be fine.

However a 4.75" bs rim that's 12" wide will sick out almost 6" more than stock, so you'll have plenty of cutting and grinding to do to fit those without rubbing, even on-road.

 

Airing down would make them more prone to break the bead, not less prone.
