265/75/16 cooper stt's

Cooper 265/75/16 STT's on stock 09 tacoma. I run dirt roads alot during hunting season and two track trails at the farm, made a huge improvement in traction/grip compared to the stock tires. They make my speedometer read basically dead on (within a couple points, gps verified), compared to the 2.5mph it was off with the 265/70's. Little bit of noise, which will most likely get louder with age, but thats to be expected with mt's. Did see an rpm drop of 100 or 200 at highway speeds, which will end up being perfect for towing the horse trailer & other trailer in 4th gear!
Anyways, here are some pics for those folks, like me, that were wondering what they would look like and how much room in the fender wells would be left over with the slightly larger size, etc.

Well, discount tire, $210 a piece. $840tires +$47bs charges-$200 trade ins = $687+tax is what I dished out for them. The 3 other closest dealers all wanted around $250 or more each tire, installed. One place was at $1153. I live 5 minutes from tire rack, but they don't do coopers.

they look really good man! those were my other choice to the procomp xtreme m/t's that i got...but the stt's were a bit more where i live, but sounds like you got a pretty good deal!

Can the suspension completley compress without any rubbing? I'd like to get a set but with the weights I carry i'm usually riding on the bumpstops or bouncing off them when towing. 4,000lb trailer @ 65mph would be pretty bad time to find out they rub...

looks nice, what do you mean that the speedometer was off with the stock 265/70s? Ive heard other people mention that too. Maybe that will compel me to ditch the rugged trails (i just cant seem to justify spending the money on new tires when my rugged trails are only 5000 miles old).

The stock speedo reads faster than you are actually going. Mine was a few MPH off as well, as calculated by GPS and those little radar guns that tell you your speed.

It showed me going 70mph when I was really only going 67.5mph. Borrow a GPS and run at highway speeds and you'll see the great speedometer conspiracy. WIth the new size tires, it's within a couple tenths of a mph around 70 now. I haven't measured the real tire height of the STT's, but the rugged trails with 35psi measured 29.5" on perfectly level ground using a level at the highest part of the tire to measure.

I'll find out asap. Got a few tons of firewood to haul this week and I have to take the horse trailer for a run to see how the new treads do with a bigger load. Our aluminum trailer is 2700 dry, add 1100 1 horse and a good 500 pounds of junk in the tack area.....so around 4300 total weight.

My GPS shows my speedometer reads about 3km/h slower too, and I have the stock Rugged Trails.
