tpms issue...

ok so its cold here this morning in expensive NJ!
like around in the high 20 degress... I turned my truck to warm up and saw the TPMS came on. So ok, I'll go fill up air later... then it warms up so I drove it out on the interstate, the light went away! WTF?!
I guess I'll check my PSI later. anyone has issues?

My truck does crazy stuff in the cold to! No big deal! If it goes away after it warms up you should be fine! If not then you got problems

Both possibly(more then likely the air pressure)! But im 99% sure its just due to the cold weather!

i know the air is dense in the cold, I dont see it how it possible causing the PSI. It was just weird. Man, so cold outside that I dont even want to to check my tire pressure..

The air becomes less dense in extreme colds therfore less psi. when the tires are ran they warm up then the air expands again! if you want to avoid this have your tires filled with nitrogen... or just don't worry about it

u call 20 degrees cold....its -4 here with wind chill.

and TRD man is absolutly right. The molecules come closer together in the cold, being more dense and causing less PSI. when u drive the air warms up and expands...creating more PSI. if u filled up this morning i would take some air out when u have a chance because when it warms up....ur PSI will be very high.

My wife's 05 4Runner has done the same thing every winter. We live in the foothills of CA with lows in the high teens/low 20's. The Toy tech explained the TPMS monitors for equal pressure within all the tires and 5 psi less in any one will set off the light. It has been resolved with checking and equalizing all tires including the spare. Regarding filling up in the morning (cold) and increased pressure when it warms up, the pressure change is only a couple PSI not enough to worry about. My Taco was bought this spring, we'll see if it does it this winter.

has to do with the sensor in the spare tire. mine is setting my light off right now cuz i been too lazy to drop it down and fill it. i don't think the 09's have them in the spare anymore...too many people bringing in vehicles to have the spare tire aired up.
