Dealership installed Lift, Wheels & Tires...

Recently purchased a 2012 DC TRD Sport with a 3" spacer lift, 18" XD Addict Wheels, and 286/65/18 Nitto Terra Grappler installed by the dealership. The truck was already modified when I purchased it.

The Problem....

The tires are rubbing against the upper control arm and the dealership can't seem to figure out how to fix it. Larger offset puts the tire outside of the wheel well and I am trying to stay away from a spacer. They are willing to fix the problem, and it is becoming apparent they have no clue what they are doing.

I am not expert when it comes to this so any advice is appreciated.

 

A more negative offset puts the wheel further outside the wheel well. Like -12 would stick out further than +12. About a 4.5" backspacing would be -12 offset on a 9" wide wheel. Asuming your 18" wheel is 9" wide, most are. If the offset is too positive or the backspacing is too high numerically, you could just add some spidertrax spacers to get the wheel away from the UCA. That's really all you can do. Wider tires than stock will not work with stock UCA. Actually, a more expensive route but it would improve your alignment would be to get aftermarket UCA. That would work with the wider tire and stock offset / backspacing. New UCA are really the right way to fix your problem and also the problem you probably don't realize you have (out of spec alignment)

 

Tell them the only solution is for them to purchase and install icon ucas lol

 

Would a 17" wheel and different tire size fix the problem?
