I sent the PDF to my friend who runs the tire shop at my dealer and had him ask one of the techs. He came back with the reply that it is in most cases the wire for the ABS was stretched or damaged when I had the truck leveled. Does that make any sense?

That can be a cause but the VSC system is supposed to be recalibrated after any front end suspension component change or wheel alignment , it's right in the pdf

If you are rubbing check your LCA, That is where mine rub, I am running 265/75/16. I had them on stockers and had rub both directions on the LCA near full lock. I now have 4.5 bs wheels (stealth f-5's) and still have rub on the LCA when turning right at full lock going forward. If in reverse or turning left there is no rub. I have a 3in OME lift as well as UCA's and good alignment numbers. I just think the tires are a little wider than others in the same class.

Anyhow, I have had mine for just over 18,000 miles, Highway, dirt roads, rockcrawling, snow, slush, rain, and they are holding up great. I do have them siped which I feel helped in the snow and slush. Great tires for the price. I will run these again in a 285 when they wear out.

I run 275's on my stock wheels and don't rub my LCA

Anybody running the ST Maxx in a 285 75r/16?

I killed one of my Discovery ST 255's last weekend. It was time for new rubber anyway. The ST Maxx will be my next tire but considering 285's. (EDIT) I have a 3" OME suspension lift & SPC LR UCA's.

Here's an older pic of my rig.

Yes, the ST's have served my well. I'd buy them again, but I want to try something new. They did well in the winter. Fresh or packed snow they were great, winter trails & primitive roads they did very well. Icy Highway, nothing does that well other than a smart driver. I grew up in MN and have lived in CO since the mid 90's, so I'm no stranger to winter driving conditions. Overall I was happy with the ST's. I put about 45K miles on them and now it's time to replace them. 45k isn't huge miles but I wheeled them a ton and the trails in Northern Colorado are pretty rough on rubber.

    18’ F150 SCREW LB 3.5 EcoBoost
    Bilstein 5100’s (x4), 275/65/20 Cooper XLT AT3’s
How's the fit on those? You running wheel spacers? and hows the gearing feel with 33's?
I'm looking at new tires and as always I am driving myself crazy :goingcrazy:

I'm running 275/70/17's now BFG AT load E. They are def heavy but haven't noticed a huge change in shift points or power. I don't mind the size but Id like something a little narrower and wish someone mad a 265/75/17... I see they make them in a 255/75/17 and a 255/80/17... just concerned about rubbing and the 10lb difference/tire.
good to hear they do well in snow, I hate my BFG's in the snow.

No spacers, my truck has a 3" OME suspension lift, 866's, dakars & SPC LR UCA's. They do not rub on my truck. This size will not fit on a stock set up. The ST's a great tire for a DD that weekends in the rough.

EDIT: @ Teneighty - You asked about gearing. I did notice a slight drop in torque / acceleration when I went moved up to the 255, but it's minor. I've gotten used to it and my truck is still ready and willing if I need to get a move on. I'm not in a hurry on the pavement anyway. 4L still kicks ass, so it's no big deal. We have a lightweight pop-up that we tow when camping with our daughters, it's awesome. So far towing the camper has been non-event. I don't mind settling into the slow lane anyway. Besides nobody pulling a trailer should be doing 70mph up or down any of the major high mountain passes around here anyway. Anything larger than a 255, yeah I'd say that a re-gear would be wise.

Dealership did a reflash and calibration and so far no problems with the VSC. There are two recalls dealing with the VSC system in certain model Tacomas.
Recall ID 101762, 101763 if any one else is having problems.

My Cooper ST's have a D load rating. The ST Maxx have an E rating.

Anybody out there with 866 OME coils, and an ARB bumper running the ST Maxx 255?

Anybody have any feedback? Can you feel the difference? I'm not concerned about road manners so much, rather rattling my family for hours on end while wheeling. I don't have on-board air yet, and yes I occasionally air down slightly (around 25) and then take it easy back to town.

EDIT: I ordered a set of 255/85r16 ST Maxx this morning from a local shop. Should be able to get them installed tomorrow.

    Cheers,

    Salt

New ST Maxx's are installed. I need to review the PSI and do some more reading so see recommended PSI, but so far I'm thrilled. Only 20 miles of pavement so far so that's not a test. They are silent compared to my ragged ST's, very nice change.

I'll try to get out on the trails ASAP and report back. Cheers.
