    It's sad that a longer lasting rougher riding tire for our trucks costs less than the better riding one with less ply's.

    The E load range will have a stiffer sidewall when you air it down. Less susceptible to puncture.

    The load range on a tire's sidewall helps identify its strength and ability to contain air pressure. Load ranges are identified in ascending alphabetical order for light truck/SUV tires (the further along the letter is in the alphabet, the stronger the tire and the greater amount of air pressure it can withstand and load it can carry). offroad maybe less puncture resistence due to more ply walls but sure as hell stiff for normal driving.:notsure:

    One of them is also severe weather rated with the mountain snow icon and one is not. A difference in the make of the rubber. There is however an e rated tire with the sever rating.

    Yes, the 'ply rating' is the equivilent of the old bias tires. Today's D or E rated tires only have I think 4 plys, 3 fabric and one steel but they have a sidewall equivilent of 8 or 10 plys when compared to old school tire making methods when the tires actually had that many layers.

    okay so the question now is, is load E to much for our light trucks? its not like we can hual much anyways

    Tire Rack has the E tire at 56 lbs each.
    They list the D tire at 59 lbs each.
