disable TPMS in 15 seconds????? fact or fiction

"to completely disable it all you have to do is hold down the TPMS button for about 15 secs while you are driving. I did it awhile back and it has never come back on, even when the weather got about 35 degrees cooler over the weekend and i know the pressure went down. The guy at the Toyota service center told me how to do it, but he told me it would be about $70 for them to reset the sensor if i ever wanted it to work again. I didn't need it, i check the tire pressure every so often anyway, so i am ok without it. But do at your own risk."

 

Hold the TPMS button down for 15 seconds and find out for yourself.

No, it does not work.

All the other guy did was reset his system. 35 degree temperature drop will not be enough to trigger it.

My light comes on flashing for the first block or two, then remains on solid.
I've aired everything up to 35 and held the reset button while parked, driving, beating my meat, etc... aired down to 25, held the reset button while parked, driving, beating my meat, etc... then pumped back up to 35.
Nope... it doesn't disable it.
