Cool ??

I will be purchasing BFG A/T KO's 285/70/17s to go on my lifted taco this week i have seen threads on here about rubbing as far as plastic (which i am not super concerned with as i plan on having my truck until it falls apart) but nothing about UCA rubbing, technically since my new tire is narrower than my stock size (245/75/16) i shouldnt incur any rubbing on my UCA correct? Thanks for the input.

Actually the 285 is the width so you are going with wider tires.

Your new tire is 40 mm wider than your stock tire, your offset on the wheel needs to be 4.5 inches or less to get it away from the uca.

Hugely wider.

from the online tire size calculator

You'll need a lift (if you don't have one already) and smaller backspaced wheels to fit them.

Be prepared to rub uca, you may need spacers.

I realize that, I'm saying be prepared because that is the minimum requirement, if it does rub you may need a backup plan.

Plus 7.5" is the minimum width wheel for a 285 so you will have more sidewall bulge making it wider. And it's probably more than just plastic in the wheel wells you'll be rubbing, pinch weld & body mount may also rub.

It can all be fixed. Chop plastic, chop body mount, bend pinch weld, & after market UCAs. I run 255/85/16s (the other 33" tire) to avoid those problems and for other reasons (less weight & better traction).

The 17" Sport wheels have 5.5" backspacing not 4.5". You will rub the UCA with these wheels and 285/70/17s.

+1 on the above.

Do you realize how big 285/70-17 actually are?

These are 285/75-16... a smaller tire, on a 3/4 ton 4x4 with the equivalent of a 2" body lift (wasn't lifted, but the HD frame is 2" taller than the 1500 frame).

These rubbed.

285/75/16s are actually a hair bigger (0.12") than 2857017s
