Yet another backspacing question. HELP

Ok guys. i need some help. Im looking to get some new wheels that are going to be 17x8. I called the guy today and he said that they only made them in -13mm and +10mm offset (kinda think he was wrong). I swore they made them in 0mm. So my question is the -13mm offset would be about 4" of BS and the +10mm would be about 5"BS. Im going to run a 285/70-17 MT so which offset should i get. Of course the 0mm would be the perfect 4.5'' of BS but the guy said they didnt have those. Im going to call again and ask tomorrow. But as of now, which should i get?

I just ran into the exact same situation. I went with the +10 offset because I am not planning on running a 285. If I were I would have went with the -13. There may still be rubbing issues with a 285/70 if I understand correctly.

Do you have any lift? If not, you're going to have A LOT of rubbing with that 285 and trouble getting it stuffed under the fender. You will probably even have to do some trimming with close to 3" of lift. As far as the BS,if you want that size tire then you are definitely going to want the 4"BS b/c if not,you will be all up on your UCA at that point.

Your lift has zero to do with rubbing... just how much compression till rubbing occurs.

You say they and them... some wheels are made in a 0 offset some are not. Your description of "they / them" wheels is not enough to know if you can get 0 offset.

The "8" in 17x8" is measured from the inside of the rim lip, where the tire bead seats. BS is measured from the outside of the rim lip to the hub face. Depending on rim design, 17x8" with 0mm offset could be 4.25", 4.5", 4.7" BS... You need to get the actual BS from the seller or ask him to take measurements (easy to do with a ruler or tape).

+10 mm offset won't work (i.e. tire will rub on UCA). -13 mm is less backspacing than you need, so UCA will have good clearance, but the tire will rub more on the fender flare or cab mount.

Those are the same wheels I just ordered in 17x8 +10 offset. I did so because I have no desire to run 285s because of the necessary trimming. With the +10th 265s work great and look really good too. If you don't mind the trimming with 285s then do the -13 offset.

I ordered them from sd wheel Corp. The 17x8 are $525 per set shipped and arrived in 4 days from placing order. I found them on eBay and ordered over the phone for that price. I was also able to use my tpms with these wheels and ordered a black lug kit off eBay for $17 shipped. Had them installed yesterday and all is great. Very happy customer.

Also FYI..... The red in pictures looks like it may be an anodized look but is pretty much a direct match to radiant red.

No, no trimming necessary.
