    ;)
I did consider those also. Only drawbacks were weight and price. They look similar to the Coopers.

    First observation:
The Duratracs have a more aggressive appearance on the truck. The STT doesn't look like any more of a mud terrain than the Duratrac. But that's good with me :)

Sounds good. I got three 10ply Druatrac for $200 with 90+ tread left so all I would have to do is buy 2 more and put one of the used ones on for the spare and I'm set!
    Mine are 265 70 17

I don't understand why the Goodyear MTR/Kevlars don't get more love from the "hard use" crowd.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
They do look like the Coopers in a way. But the Toyos are a 10 ply tire, and a very good tire. My dad runs them on his F250, I run them on my toyota, and soon F150. I've heard nothing bad about the Coopers though.

Ah - yes, in 17 you can get D. But in 16, only E.

I was very close to getting the MTR's. Even to the point I was staring at 'em today while they were about to put the Coopers on. But in the end, the wet roads reviews swayed me back to the Coopers. They seem to have better wet traction.

Of course, I also believe that you can only base about 20% of your decision on reviews. From one review to the next, two different people can have two opposite opinions about the exact same tire. Makes it difficult to decide based on stuff like that.

I run 10ply load E Falken Rocky Mountain ATS in 265/75/16. They ride smooth no road noise well worth it.

Apparently you don't know what you're talking about because if you did you'd know that Duratracs also come in a Load C range which is what I was referring to.

I don't think the 16" 285's are available in C load range. Either way, don't get your panties in a knot, you're the one tried giving him shit for not using a higher load range tire when towing, even though a C load range tire is perfectly adequate for anything the Tacoma is going to tow anyways...

Go back and read your first post. You didn't ask what load range I was using (not that it even mattered). Perhaps you should have asked that before making your comments. Obviously you're too immature to admit your mistake.

Do you know how much weight a load range C Duratrac (even in a 265) is capable of carrying?

Back on track - The Duratracs are definitely a better riding tire, as expected. Just wish they weren't as soft on the sidewall, otherwise I definitely prefer them to the Coopers.

The coopers will get loud as they wear. I had them on my jeep and f350. They are heavy tires also.

They do feel heavier. Seems like I need more throttle to get going. Oddly though, my mileage seems better. Won't know for sure till I get through a couple of tanks, but early indications are better mpg's.

Couldn't find weight specs for the Coopers anywhere. Only thing I found was a post on a forum where someone emailed Cooper asking the weight of the 285/16's, and Cooper's reply was 56 lbs. That can't be right though, as I've not seen another mud tire in that size weigh that little.
