I think they are the best looking tire and a decent performer.

Holy cow, Es and they blew like that?
Wait, 2 ply side wall on E load range. Makes me scared to think about my C Duratracs.

I Wish I could aford these mods
The Diratracs E rating is a 10 ply tire. They are supposed to be a lot stronger tire.

The ply ratings are a thing of the past. E rated tires don't actually have 10 plys anymore, it's just a way to distinguish the load carrying capacity of a tire based on an old standard.

If I'm remembering correctly, the new Duratrac E rated tires have a 3 ply sidewall instead of the 2 ply that was on the older version. I think I saw that in a thread somewhere, I'll see if I can confirm that.

I wouldn't worry too much. I really think (hope) the only way this happened was from a pre-existing cut from the rocks. If you don't do any rock crawling in the sharp stuff, you should be more than fine. The places I go with mine have very sharp, jagged rocks that will cut pretty easily.

Yeah, I was thinking that the ply number was a rating, meaning thickness and load capacity is "comparable to" what the old actual ply numbers were previously.

Here's some info I found on a Jeep site. I've found others that stated that their E's said 3-ply on the sidewall, so it's very confusing. But for this particular size, 285/75/16 - Even the E load tire is a 2-ply sidewall. I wish I looked at mine before ditching them to be sure - but I always knew they were 2-ply, so didn't bother looking on the tire :/
