Steelie help?

I'm new to the forum and realize this question may have been answered elsewhere but have lost my patience trying to find the answer. Does anyone run the OEM Tacoma 17" steelie (spare) or FJ steelie wheels? I like the look of the OEM steelies but have read elsewhere that the FJ steelies do not have the proper backspacing...but I see a lot of people running various FJ Alloys?? I have seen a Tacoma OEM 17" steelie spare that looks identical to the OEM 17" FJ steelie. Anyone know the difference? Does the Tacoma OEM 17" steelie spare have the correct backspacing? Eventually I want to run 33's with an Icon 2.5 or OME 885 with Bilstein 5100's. I realize there are other steelie options out there so no need to suggest those. Thanks.

 

Are you talking about the stock tacoma steelies that are 16 inches?

 

Not sure, I've seen 15, 16, & 17 steel spares advertised. Not the stock steel wheels but the spare tire wheel is what I'm referring to. It looks identical to the FJ Steelie. I'm interested in the 17's. I've read before that the FJ steelies don't work due to the backpsacing but I see lots of guys running FJ alloys. Just wondering what the difference is or if anyone has run the Tacoma steel spare wheel(s).

They'll bolt up just fine, don't know back spacing or what you're after.

Can always use spidertrax.

You shouldn't have any issues on the 2nd gen.

Ditto. At stock height, it will pretty much tuck in almost like stock. It's only when you lift it that you should consider adding adapters unless you prefer the tuck in look.

 

Not sure of the BS on the FJs
Since you have a 2nd Gen 5.25" is stock & the first gen TRDs I have on mine the BS is 4.5" so they stick out .75" farther than stock.
