New wheels won't fit!

I ordered XD spy wheels last week and tires this week and finally got a chance to mount them today. Well, tried to test fit the wheel and the darn thing will not fit! The center bore of the wheel is too big and the adapter that was in with the wheel was too small. Now I am going to have to get in touch with Rimzone.com and go through the hassel of sending these back. really pisses me off to send something back like this.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this kind of problem.

I am assuming you left it to them to tell you the correct wheel? I sure hope so that way your not eating the shipping.

I gave them the model and specs of the truck and they did the rest. I am beyond pissed about this!

So wait... Can you get the wheel on the truck and the only thing is that the center bore doesn't hug the hub tightly?

Yes. I have a friend that is a mechanic at a dealership and he stayed after work today to help save me some money. He said they will not work. Said the center bore was too big and adapter ring was too small for the bearing cap on the hub.

that doesnt matter. do you have ET lugs? those wheels are made like that for a reason.. you dont honestly think when you order a wheel from KMC that they spec it to toyotas hub, then to the next chevy guys hub, then to the third guy with a ford hub, do you? those plastic rings are junk anyways, toyotas lugs center the wheels on the studs... thats why you have lug nuts with little barrels on the end...

your friend misinformed you dude. if you can fit the wheel on the lugs, youre good to go. its your problem whether or not your lugs fit as some aftermarket/factory wheels have skinnier lug holes than the stock steelies and require a thinwall socket/ spline key. but your wheels fit fine, take them to someone else who knows what they are doing.

So get a different adapter. Gorilla sells plastic hubcentric adapter rings in many sizes. I used a set with my Konigs.

How big is the wheel's center bore? If it's 110 mm, order this ($15):

If it's 108 mm, order this:

2nd gen wheels are hubcentric. Attempting to run them lugcentric will often cause vibrations on the highway.

he doesnt even need that. he needs lugs with extended threads to seat the wheel correctly on the hub. i had a set of aftermartket wheels on my reg cab... and will not have aftermarket wheels ever again.

Wrong. ET lugnuts are used when the wheel is too thick and not enough threads are exposed. They are not intended to center the wheel properly

well then why would toyota motor corporation use extended lugs on our trucks? thats not the only use for them.

They came with ET lug nuts. But he said they would not center the wheel on the hub and would be like they are bad out of balance.

You need the hub rings. 106.1 to 108 probably, but check the bore on your wheels. They can be as big as 110. Most aftermarket wheels are hubcentric. Tacomas are lugcentric. The ET lug nuts won't hurt but they won't fix the problem. You'll end up with bad wheel shake at about 50 mph.

Toyota doesn't use ET lugnuts. Toyota wheels including your Ivan Stewarts are hubcentric.

The TRD spline-drive lugnuts are not extended-thread, for example:

That's what my buddy said about the wheel shake. He said it would be a 1 in a million chance of getting them centered with just the lugs nuts and he didn't want to take a chance of them not taking them on a return. I am going to call where I got the wheels from tomorrow and see what they say about it.

^Almost all the aftermarket wheels have an oversize bore. Just ask them to provide the correctly-sized adapter rings.

LOL, maybe they gave you the rings for GM 1/2 tons?

Thanks for the replies. I trust Scott when he said not to mount the wheels, but I also knew I would get answers on here as well. It's always better to hear from first hand experience that I knew I would find here.
