I'm taking a look at the AT3 but have also stumble across the ATW and HT3. Anyone know pros and cons between these?

I know the ATW is basically the AT3 designed for improved winter driving. It comes with the snowflake symbol on it. The tread is also a little but closer together and softer. I think it's a 50,000 mile tire vs. a 55,000 mile tire. I've read some good reviews on them.
The HT3 will be more of a highway tire.

I've been running them anywhere between 33 and 35 psi all around for on road use.

The ATW is a totally different tire and tread pattern/ compound, compared to the AT3, and is one of the newest tires for us at Cooper, it's a tire that we ship to Canada for the most part but can be had hereq in the states as well. It's a fantastic tire for the winter, the HT3 is also a fairly new design and geared towards commercial vehicles, think most common sizes are E load range, and only a few In the C road range, not a tire I'd reccomend, if ya want the best for winter go with the AT/w other wise AT3 is a darn good tire, just put a set on the wife's highlander,.

lyodbraun - does Cooper have any plans for other tires to come in 255/80r17? Would love to have an AT3 in that size. The ST Maxx in that size is too heavy for my preference but I like the size a lot.

Probably not, what they have listed is what they make, you can always email them and ask when they will make that size, or ask if they have other brands In that size, we make a lot of other branded tires ie: mastercraft, Mickythompson, Dean tires, big o, eldorado, and more, the ST Maxx really is not all that heavy IMO, and is a great tire, I love mine...

I think AT3 P rated will be my next tires. @ $116 each and my friend can mount them..hard to resist. Love my E rated BFG's but my back is getting sick of them. I would probably have to be more careful about running over curbs I assume though with P rated. Not sure if I need C rating..I rarely tow trailers.

    Hello!

I am torn on which AT/3's to get. I currently have Bridgestone Dueler 695 LT245/75/16 E/10 tires on my truck (came with it).

I hardly never tow, may get a boat in a few years but still. I don't own anything to tow may also get a 5x8 trailer.

For the Tacoma DCSB - should I go P,C or E? I rarely go off-road, heavy winters in Upstate NY - 95% pavement. The C's have a low speed rating...

    Looking at: 245/75/16

    P - http://www.treaddepot.com/tire/90000002691.html
    C - http://www.treaddepot.com/tire/90000002721.html
    E - http://www.treaddepot.com/tire/90000002722.html (Closet to what I have now)

    Or maybe 265's?

Thanks - I put AT/3's on our jeep and I love them!

If you don't go off road the Ps should be fine.... they have less tread and softer side walls, so they should have a better ride and better mpg than the Cs...
The C will give a sportier ride and are tougher tire and E will be too stiff from what I hear......

This is off topic, but I'll update anyway....I have 50,000 on mine with 6/32 remaining (per the inspection performed yesterday) I'm hoping to get another year out of them, which would put me at 70,000 or so. I doubt I'll make it that long though.

When I did my research before purchasing my AT/3s, I read that if the sidewall is too stiff and you don't have enough weight on them, it can cause 'cupping' in the wear of the tread. Since you don't off-road or consistently air down your tires or carry over 5,000 lbs in the bed of your truck, the P rated tires should be fine. That's what I have on my truck and they are awesome!

Awesome - yeah not sure why the previous owner put Load Range E tires on it... lol sure it has a hitch on it, but still. If my truck could carry 5k in the bed, that would be amazing lol not with the current 3 leaf recalled pack.

AznTRD - what size tires are you running?

LOL.. True. I went up a size to 265/70R17 and got new wheels also. I had to remove the front part of the front mud flaps, but it still rubs on the back part on a hard turn. I wanted to lift my truck a couple inches anyway, so seems like a good excuse to get the lift kit. :D

Here are a couple of pics after I got the wheels and tires put on:

So yeah, I am going to go with P-rated tires... Thought about the 265/75/16's but don't want to hurt MPG, speed or odometer. My current tires suck, got stuck in my driveway while in 4 wheel drive. Granted it was alot of snow, but still.

    Its a stock road warrior!

Nice, I'd read that they weren't good in the snow and that's why Cooper came out with the ATW.
