Getting some cooper AT3's very soon, been reading up on tire sizes. Now I'm at a crossroads, which size do I go with, the 70's or 75's? Is there a noticeable difference in look and or performance? I have read on many posts that the 75's fit with no rub or need to trim, just want to verify. Looking for knowledgable opinions either way so I can make an informed decision. Thanks for the help.

I have a stock 2012 trd off road with the stock 16 inch alloy wheels.

75s add 1/2" ground clearance and make speedometer work correctly!

BTW, I have AT3s in 265/75. Only had them about 800 miles but I really like them so far. If you search down a little ways in the wheels and tires section, you should see I have a thread on them. Don't have much, but plan on adding more soon. Especially once I have a chance to take them off pavement. Herre are some comparison pics. From the side, the 245s I had and the 265/70s should look about the same.

From the day I got the new At3s...

Do I need to get any sort of spacer or anything extra if I am putting the 75's on the stock alloys that came on the trd off road. Or can I just throw the 265/75/16's on the factory wheels with no rubbing?

The 265/75's will fit just fine. No spacers needed.

The 265/75-16 fits right on the stock TRD Off Road wheels, like it was made for them... No rubbing off or on road... The speedometer reads correctly, too... It is as if the truck was made for the 75 series tire!

Except the ODO will read off... It's like Toyota couldn't make up their mind and half the factory designed for 265/70 and the other half designed for 265/75

Please explain further, I am about to make a decision on 265/75/16 or factory 265/70/16. From what I have read so far, the speedometer will be correct, how is the odometer effected? Everyone has been recommending the 75's but I want to know all the effects on the vehicle. Thanks.

Not anything to worry about... I use the odometer while making maps in Baja and it is either right on or very close to the figures the auto club has on their Baja map.

If you go with factory size, 265/70R16 tires, your odometer will be dead on but your speedometer will read a little slow (all Tacomas are like this from the factory, no idea why). If you go with the taller sized tires, your speedometer will read dead on but your odometer will read low. You're talking about 3% difference so take your pick wheter you want the difference to be in the speedo or the odo.

Just to clarify the 3% slow read on the odometer = when you travel 100 miles, the odometer only reads 97?
