I'm tired of tires

I need to get new tires.

I have been reading a lot about tires on here.

I am fracking tired of reading about tires.

I am no farther ahead on a decision than I was before I read like 16k posts about tires.

Throughout your reading, you've mentally narrowed it down to about 3 tires. All tires will have good and bad reviews, but you have picked good ones because you just read 16k posts. Just pick the ones you think look best. What type of tire are you looking at? Street? Mud?

 

BFG ATs or Wrangler DuraTracs.

Can't go wrong with either.

 

Yes, you're pretty close with narrowed down to 3, maybe 4. Same as everyone else, BFG A/T's, Duratracs, General Grabber AT2, Cooper Discoverer AT3, Nitto All Terras and Hankook DynaPro. OK maybe 6.

I CAN afford any of them, but I am just wondering if the BFGs and Duratracs are really worth the extra $100 to $200. I know that has been beaten beyond death.

I am also getting the rear leaf TSB done so I will be buying the Billstein 5100s and putting them on(I may pay someone to do it though I probably could but I don't want to F up my truck...I get in the middle of it and feel like I am screwing up or having trouble my head may explode).

So I'm debating if I basically get the Billies and tires for the same price of just what the Duratracs or BFGs are or if the BFGs or Duratracs REALLY are worth their cost I don't want to spend the money on the "lift" and then be unhappy with going cheaper on tires. Make sense?

I had BFG A/Ts on my first gen('02) and I did like them....BUT....I did notice once they got about 30K on them I found they didn't seem to grip as good in the wet and also I did notice they do hold snow. So I'm not overly sold on just going right back to them.

I won't lie...the Duratracs look awesome. Period. I do like the look of the BFGs as well. The rest on the list look just OK......but damn I shouldn't be buying tires on looks.....but then again I like looking at my truck and thinking "man, I really like my truck, she looks nice"...haha).

I live in south central Pennsylvania so snow, ice and rain are a need. I also have a cabin near State College and while I typically go up maybe 4 times per year I do keep saying I really need to go more. And there are some fire and access roads that need a more aggressive tread.

I just saw a set on a 2nd gen this morning...they look great and I'm sure they are reasonable (love my Cooper AT3s for the price). Good call.

 

I'm at discount tire getting a set installed now. I drove myself (and my gf) insane shopping for tires for 2 months. These tires get really good reviews.
