That thread wasn't a great deal of help. I stopped reading after the first few pages. It started out with good intention but then quickly turned into a pissing contest so I stopped reading.

All I really want to know is if they will rub or not and if so about how much?

Weird. I got all the info I needed out of it before I bought mine.

Yes, they will rub if you off road hard. How much depends on lift, wheel backspace, caster angle, wheel width, etc etc. Way to many variables to answer exactly what your going to rub if you don't give the specifics.

Currently have stock 2013 dbl cab w/TRD OR pkg and 265/75/16's my Tacoma is currently 100% stock as it came from the factory with said options.

By by front mud flaps for sure.

Prob also rub frame at full stuff/lock and maybe fenders at full stuff.

This is why I would just ask in the thread for these sized tires.

Sorry, maybe fit wasn't the correct choice of word/s.

What I wanted to know is will the 255/85/16's rub or not on a stock wheeled, stock height 2013 Tacoma and if they rub is it excessive or can the rubbing be controlled/eliminated with minor trimming and or mud flap removal.

I had a lot of supposed Jeep experts tell me I would have rubbing and or even excessive rubbing when I first put 255/80/17 KM2's on my factory stock, at the time, 09 Rubicon but I experienced zero rubbing issues in stock form. It just looked a little funny till I put the lift and aftermarket wheels on.

Im just busting balls. My guess is ya some rubbing. I would be worried about rubbing the frame but that was already brought up, if you do rub on the frame you can get wheel spacers to push the wheel/tire out farther but that will make the possible rubbing on the mud flap area or fender worse.

I know on my Rubicon the reason they didn't rub was because they are narrow for their height. I'm sure a 33in tall tire that was the typical width of a tire that tall would have surely rubbed when turned sharp, at the least.

Biggest reason I like this size tire is the fact that it's narrow and tallish. I'm not a big fan of wide tires. I've had better luck with pizza cutter type tires.

I'm going to add a smallish lift, around 2.5in, after I get a few other things done. Like my Rubicon, adding different tires is something that is very easy to do and can be done right now which is why I was asking about them rubbing.

"Busting balls" is all part of being on these forums so I'm good with it, no worries. I typically don't get all butt hurt about these things. There's just no point in it. Ask a dumbass question, expect to get a dumbass response.

Haha well put, you'll fit right in here. I think that tire size is a very good choice, if my aftermarket wheels were skinnier i would have definitely gone with that size. I might even consider using my stock wheels with some MTs and run those in the woods, save my pretty wheels from rock rash. I would say go for it, if you rub to much it will motivate you to get your lift on, and nothing wrong with a little trimming if your ganna wheel it anyway. How do you like the tacoma so far compared to the rubicon?

How do I like Taco better/worse than Rubi?

Right now, it's not really a fair fight as they are such different vehicles. Everything I didn't like about my 2dr Rubi, mostly being room or the lack of, I love about the Taco. But, I bought a 2dr Rubi because I wanted exactly what I bitched about later, compactness. For a stock vehicle that has LOTS of wheeling abilities I can tell you right now they do not compare. Rubi wins hands down. Spent some time this past weekend playing around with the new Taco in the snow and it does well, especially on the slick stuff but it's just not a Rubicon. It's really hard to beat a 2dr Rubicon for a compact go anywhere, especially in tight places, vehicle.

But, I freakin hated the 3.8L motor my Jeep had. What a gutless slug! The newer 3.7L is MUCH better in the Jeeps. The 4.0 my old wrangler had was 10x the motor the 3.8L is! The Tacoma has pretty decent power. Soon as TRD gets their shit together and releases the SC kit for the 2013's I'll like it a whole lot better though.

Overall room the Taco wins hands down! Can't even compare the two. The Taco has 4 doors so again you can't even compare it to a 2dr Rubi.

Overall, I pretty much like everything about the Tacoma except for the whimpy girlish stance they have. Even in stock form I think they sit to low and I hate that nose down height thing. After this thing gets a small 2.5in lift that levels things out and I put some 255/85/16 or 255/80/17's, depending on which wheels I go with, it will at the least, look better. Then when TRD wakes up from their winter nap and has the SC kit available for the 2013's it should run as good as it looks. Hopefully

waiting for your build thread lol. Ive never been a jeep guy but i have always thought the rubicons are pretty awesome. If you end up trying out the 255s stock height good luck, if it was me it might be worth finding a set of cheap stock wheels incase you rub to much and have to go back to stock size before the lift. But then you have to deal with tpms and all that stuff. Really your best bet would just be to wait on the tires until the lift because you will most likely rub, those are some big tires.

I am running the KM2s on FJ wheels w/ stock TRDOR suspension. As long as you do some plastic cutting they wont rub in street driving. I had them mounted and they rubbed like crazy all the way home, then I parked and turned stop-to-stop, trimming everywhere it looked like they might rub. I was planning on getting an OME 3" but that got put on the back burner for now.

I have ALMOST no lift on an 09 trd sport double cab. Eibach springs up front and tsb 4 leaf springs in back, and my 255/85/16 km2's are being mounted and balanced on black trd faux beadlock rims as I type. I didn't leave the truck because the rims require different lugs than those that came stock. But hopefully this weekend I'll have something to post as far as pics. The new rims have a different backspacing though which helps from what I've read.

Less backspacing helps with wider tires. Less backspacing pushes the wheels out further which will make you rub more on the fenders. Wider tires require less backspacing to keep them from rubbing on the UCA
