I have a 2005 toyota tacoma with a 3in lift with 285 75 16 on it now and I was look at a set of 305 55 20. And the rim is 9in wide. I know I will have to do some cutting to my inter finders but will they work and what size wheel spacers will I need

    welcome!

and what kinda tires are they?

i think(could be wrong) but i think 305 you have to have a 6” lift. but like i said not 100% sure. if not you probably have to cut a lot of stuff.

edit. maybe not with it being /55.

edit agin. looks like they just a tad smaller than a 33” which maybe smaller than the tires you have or about the same size(within like 1/2”)

ok. and i edited my other post. don’t think you will have to cut much, They should not be any taller They are just wider. idk if you would need wheels spacers or not.

edit: do you know that the back spacing is on the wheels? that may help someone that knows a little more than i do on wether or not you would need spacers.

I think the only real problem would be the wheels hitting the upper control arms.

You need to know backspacing / offset to determine if you need spacers. What is the name and brand of the wheels?

9" wheel wont be to wide, but you want around 4.5" backspacing

Do you know which ones? Ushually there is only one or two options for backspacing/offset for the tacoma bolt pattern with aftermarket wheels

Read this http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/102992-wheel-backspacing-offset-info.html backspacing and offset are directly related, knowing these numbers will tell you how far the wheel will stick out, if it doesnt stick out enough your tires will rub on the upper control arms, if it sticks out to much you will rub the fenders. For reference i think stock wheels are 5.5 backspacing +30mm offset. When you get wider tires you need less offset. Most guys who run wider tires go with around 4.5" backspacing and between 0 to -12mm offset

Wait a second, just to get this straight, you already have the wheels with 285s mounted on them right now or you are getting new wheels and tires?

Is the bolt pattern the same? You should find out the hub bore also

I dont think they will fit, did a quick search for you and the hub bore on the avalanche is alot smaller, 78.3, you need at least 106

    CHEVROLET/GMC AVALANCHE 2002 > Metric: 6 X 139.7
    Standard: 6 X 5.5 16 X 7 14 X 1.5 78.3 M/H
