Wheels arrived today...three shipped perfect...one, not so much.

Some have asked about the wheels mfg. information, here it is:

    They're made by Ultra.

I've already informed both FedEx and TRDparts4U; pictures have been e-mailed...both have been good about the issue with the damaged wheel.

Hopefully, I'll get the replacement wheel next week.

Ultra wheels? You'd think they would make some forged one for a "Texas Edition"

Well, TRDparts4U has removed this wheel from their web site...wonder why?

Dealers cold care less, they know the majority of the owners will be highway/mall crawlers. They're all about creating "hype" and the look for something, adding graphics, badges, for the cheapest amount cost wise to them, and creating a $3000 package out of it. Then they call it whatever they want, add the word limited or special edition and the oblivious people will be all over it thinking they got something special.

...yes I'm resurrecting an old thread rather than start a new one since some good relevant info is above...

I'm kind of mixed on the Texas Ed package in general but the wheels are good looking cosmetically I think. Beyond the 'looks' some further Questions below if anybody can help...

Q: Are these Texas Ed wheels (by Ultra) CAST (not forged)?

Q: Are the 2013 16" OE TRD OffRoad wheels FORGED?

Q: Do the Texas Ed wheels have CORRECT OFFSETS? Same width as the 17" OE TRD Sport wheels? Same 265/25R17 tires? Same lug bolts (interchangeable) as the Toyota TRD Sport or OR wheels?

and finally a little off topic - but has anybody removed the chrome 'Star' logos from their Tx Ed Tacomas? Is it just a double sided adhesive?

    Thanks!

pgtr, I replaced my stock 16" steel wheels and tires with these wheels and new tires. I didn't have any issues other than my checking account. I live in Alabama and Southeast Toyota doesn't offer the Texas Edition package, so this was my only option...or go to Mississippi and buy a truck. Yes they are cast wheels, but so are the standard 16" alloy Tacoma wheels. I like them and I'm happy with them. I don't do the off road thing but I do tow a travel trailer without any issues...must be the Sockmonkey bedside decals. :)

    OK - thanks!

Are Toyota OEM aluminum wheels forged?

These Ultra Texas Ed wheels seem to sit a tad far out visually - has anybody verified if they have a correct offset or backspace for a 17x8 wheel?

(I ask because I don't trust a distributor/dealer to get stuff like this right - they seem far more motivated by profit)

    thx

TRDparts4U is the parts department for Toyota of Dallas. Give them a call and they can give you all the info you need. If you order from them, your invoice will say Toyota if Dallas.

The wheels stick out just a smidge past the fenders...no clearance issues at all. And, there shouldn't be since Toyota has this as a port option for Gulf States Toyota.

Southeast Toyota uses Ultra wheels as well for there port options along with SWS (?) wheels. The Tacoma XSP-X comes with Ultra Maverick wheels...so does the Tundra XSP-X. All of them are cast wheels.

Save time, money and headaches....buy KMC. TIS makes some badass wheels too. A set of their 534b's is in my near future. If you live near a Rimco, PM me. I'll make sure you get a hell of a deal. Especially if you live near Odessa, Corpus Christi or Kingsville.

I'm not shitting on anything. I stated an opinion about Ultra wheels and offered up what I thought were better quality options. I'm not trying to deal anything. You want the Ultras? PM me about that too. I don't really give a shit how you spend your money, I'll help save you some if I can. Tell ya what, I'll wait right here while you choke on a bag of dicks. When your done let me know, then we can get back to the wheel discussions.
