Rubbing on UCA

I was wondering if I got a 16x8 wheel and a 285/75/r16 tire would that rub on my uca?

I am getting similar size 285/70/17 with 4.5 backspace. Was planning on getting uca because of concerns alignment being outta place. Maybe I can save 400 dollars. Is it really necessary with 3 in lift?

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

The reason most people buy new UCA is for alignment and to stop "wandering" after a 3" lift. You don't have to have them but they make a world of a difference.

Not if you get the correct back spacing on your wheels

Basically what fiveology said. All about backspacing!

I have a 1st gen with 16x8 Pro Comp's w/ 4" back spacing. I am running 285/75 Kelly safari tsr's. I do not rub the uca. In fact, I have about 1" at the closest point.

^ with a 285 ?
you must rub the frame a full steering lock
and I'd think the 285 would rub the UCA when aired down...
unless you have aft. mrkt. UCA's or wheel spacers ?

---------------

I ran/wheel'd 285/75/16 for years (currently 295/75/16)
16 X 8 @ 4" bs wheels

just a slight frame paint scuff at full steer. lock
plenty of room between the tire and UCA

4" bs is just enough for 285's
but I'd probably go with a 3.75" bs wheel, (round 2)
* being sure the offset will clear the brake caliper.

There where a few rims I loved but could find them in 4.5 bs. Knowing I wanted 285's, I felt that was pushing it. Also, I did not want to run spacers at any cost.
To each their own, but I think spacers do more harm.
