    Terra Grapplers.

I have them in 265/70/16, They are quiet as hell on the highway(coming from BFG A/T's) it was a shock to say the least. They look pretty decent to me and as far as off-road usages, from what you've said there's no need to go overkill with a heavy, M/T tire if you aren't going to use it for it's intended function. Form follows Function. That is all.

Good Luck with your search. :)

Prob not, They fill mine just fine, then again im on stock TRD suspension, You might want to get a slightly taller tire. But the terra grappler will do everything you ask of it for the uses you mentioned.

i think it will look of. i have seen 265/70r16 on 3” lift and it looks ok. 265/70r17 will fill the wheel wells prety good on a stock truck.
265/70r17 is the same size i have. 265/70r17 is 1” taller then what you have.

I don't have experience with either on my own truck, but I've seen both on buddys' trucks. As others have stated, the Terra's sometimes get a bad rap because they're made from a softer rubber compound and tend to wear a bit faster, but this makes them sticky on the roads. The Terra will also likely be a bit quieter in road noise, but i'm not sure if that's a concern for you since you're coming from the duratracs. I'm not sure if you're set on Nitto tires, but Nitto is owned by Toyo and Toyo has some great tires as well. The Toyo open country is essentially the same tire as the Terra but is a harder rubber compound and so doesn't have the bad rap about wearing out too fast like the Terra does.

I've owned both on this truck.

No problems with the Terra wearing too fast or leaving me stuck anywhere. You do have to understand that they are not an aggressive tire, so they won't clear out as easy as some MTs, but if you know what you are using - You shouldn't end up in trouble.
I LOVE my trail grapplers. Plenty of grip on the trails, not uber loud on the roads and they stand up to abuse just fine.

I won't be getting anything but Trail Grapps any time soon.

Did 60K on a set of Terra Grapplers, and they dont chunk like a BFG. They were smooth and quiet.

Sand, Soft Dirt/Silt, Icy/Wet Snow - Did not work very well, but never left me stranded.

Friends with the Trails are very happy with them.

Just had a test fit of the Terra Grapplers and didn't like the look, coming from duratrac it was night and day, so I ordered the Trail Grapplers

Anyone want to buy some Duratrac 285/70/17 with about 8k on them and they have a transferable replacement warranty through discount tire?

I used to have terra grapplers and man do I ever regret getting those things... They slip very easily in wet conditions, were half way done when I only put 18k miles on them, 99% on road. They sucked so bad. I am very happy with my 285/70/17 Duratracs right now, would never look back and would probably stick with these for a while. If I were you, I would get BFG A/T's.

Why am I stuck on Nitto's? I am not, but like I said I think three other times? I have them on my wife's Jeep and with 20K (Terra Graplers) on them they are doing great so I find no problem with the brand itself...

    The Original post was about

Terra Grapplers versus Trail Grapplers... and my size limits I was looking at

    255/75/17

    or

    265/70/17

not a lot of tires in the first size to choose from (255/75/17) which is the direction I was leaning so as to still maintain some height and not look like little tiny tires within my lifted Taco..

Thanks for everyone's input once the Trail Grapplers are delivered and mounted I will post pics and opinions...

The Duratracs were a good tire but I learned the hard way a 285/70/17 NEEDS CMC and other trimming and either spacers or rims with new backspacing to make it work and drive normal (or a combo of all those items) and I was not a fan of doing all the cutting and etc... etc... to make a tire work... it's easier to change the tire...

    Thanks again for the input..

OK, I read to the bottom and see you've made your decision.

    One final word tho -

It seems your main descision criteria between the two and the main reason for considering the Trail Grapplers was the fact that they're a size you like better: 255/75R17.

For tread characteristics - it seems like the terra grapplers were actually closer to your needs based on how you described your usage.

So one final thought to consider, knowing that you can still change your order since you only made it yesterday:

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armours and Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza are both tires more comparable to the Terra Grappler, but are available in the 255/75R17 size.

bjmoose, I follow you but think about what I currently have on my truck... Duratrac's they are nothing like the silent armor or the Alenza's you mention.. so the consideration of a more "road friendly" tire really wasn't a big concern for me, my biggest issue was to get something to fit that would not rub my UCA's, would still look aggressive and fit decently in the wheel well with my lift so as to not look like I am missing some tire :)

The decision was 75% made before the post of leaning towards the 255 size, and was confirmed after a test fit of the 265/70/17... they looked way to small...

So then my choices were down to the Trail Grapplers and the MT/R and I really did not want the MT/R

I spent 7 hours the night before on this forum and others looking over tires and reading peoples opinions...

    Thanks though...
