New Tires Toyo Open Country 265/75/16

Finally went a size up and I went with the Toyo AT II Open Countrys. I did quite a bit of research and comparison, pros and cons, etc... and here are the 2 main factors that sold me.

1. 41lbs each, my stock BFs were 38lbs each, so I am only gaining about 3lbs per tire, gas mileage and power factors.

2. Tread warranty, 65,000 miles

I like the look of the General Grabbers, but they are like 60lbs each, 10ply, etc... and for what I do that would just be a gas and power hog.

 

Looks good! I like the new slightly more agressive sidewall.

 

Thanks, also the ride is far superior to even the stock BFs, amazing how much more flexible these are and you can immediately feel the difference. I haven't put many miles on these yet, but no rubbing issues that I have heard/seen.

I had the original Open Country on my '05 and liked them fine... This O.C. II looks even better. I have Hankook Dynapro ATMs (265/75-16) on now, and love them except for the low mileage wearing (at 28,000+ now)... so keeping my eyes open to other ideas for an AT/ Off Road/ Hwy. quiet tire.

BFG Rugged Fails were replaced at 20,000 miles (after two flats from rocks, not nails). They are fine until they Fail, and they fail too soon!

 

I've been looking at getting these for a while....Looks good!

 

How are these sound wise? Loud? Noticeable?

are those LT's? trying to decide if i want to go with LT's or P rated....i want the more aggressive side wall look

 

The Toyo Open Country's are nice. I ran the original ones on my '06. Never had any complaints. Then I went all out and sprung for some LTX M/S II's. That was noticable. Ride was like a car with those. For the money though, I like the Toyo's...

 

any kind of lift on your Taco. I'm about ready to pull the trigger and buy these but want to see if a 285/70R17 will fit mine with the Ready lift 3inch spacer lift and 1.5 inch SyderTrax
