I need an adult!!! Tire and wheel combos; what to do?

I have a 06 TRD sport with an OME 2" lift with 886 coils. My tires are barely limping to and from work so its time to blow the bank... I'm looking to get a set of Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ sized 285/85r17. I'm currently running pro comp at 275/75r18 on 18x10 chrome procomp extremes with no wheel rub. I'm looking to get rid of the chrome and go black; probably drop down to 17 inch black rims also. What back spacing do I need to not get wheel rub??? Seeing how I have a quad cab long bed I regularly go full turn while parking and don't want to limit that.

I will gladly take any advice on what you recommend! Let me know what setup your running

Check out SCS Stealth wheels in Tacoma World under For Sale-wheels and tires. 17x8.5, with 4.30 back space(less than 4.50) puts wheel nicely out to edge of flares. I just put my name on waiting list for new silver coming out. Say hello to Vin and let him know I sent you.

Bronze looks really good on blue trucks too. Nice front bumper. Please don't ask ship to stop in Hawaii to drop yours off, we are all waiting.

285s for what I have read may still rub. I am considering 265/70/17, or 285 and live with it.

Did you mean 285/70/17? I know the 285/75/16 crowd still trim quite a bit. 4.5 backspacing seems to be recommended and it is the backspacing provided by toyota on the fj, tx, trail teams, and baja wheels. I just upgraded my wheel and tire combo to 255/85/16 on tx wheels. My lift consists of eibach coils and factory 4 leaf leaf springs in the rear. If i turn into a driveway with a bit of speed I'll get a little rub. I didn't trim anything. I started to, but my alignment was off and now all is well.

285/85R17 ?

That would be a 36" tire. Rubbing would not be optional. Not to mention my trivial search doesn't turn up any manufacturers of that size.

Yea you are correct, I ment to say 285/70r17. It's been a week or so since I was at maui offroad and was shooting from the hip on the size.

What tire would you go with? Personally I like the MT MTZ but I think I'm going with the ATZ this time around...

If you go with a uniball uca that adds caster you will need the following mods
for a 33" tall 285 width tire.

1. Remove mud flaps.
2. Trim flares.
3. Cut fender liner.
4. Cab mount chop.
5. Cut lower flare mount metal.
6. Hammer pinch weld.
7. Set caster over 3 degrees.
8. Wheels with better backspace or spacers.

I am looking to get some bigger tires like maybe 35's once I get a 4" lift, but I want to keep my TSS edition 17" x 8" wheels. What size tires should I get? Or would fit on my rims?

To the original poster, that truck is WAY too nice to have those garbage rims on them. I'd recommend either some Black FJ trail teams like in post #2, or some Method Racing wheels. That will really set that truck off...
