I just ordered a toy tech ultimate lift kit, and I am looking around at some wheels and tires.. I read allot and saw people who run the 285's run into problems rubbing on the cab mount. I am looking to get these Pro-Comp Wheels.. Don't know how wide of a wheel I should get 8",9" or 10"?? Or even what tire size I should run, should I run the 285's or 275's??

    Some one please help!!

No use getting 285's unless you really need them for off road. They kill mileage, and you would probably want to regear. Personally I think 275s fill the wheel well nicely and arent too dramatic of a change otherwise from the stockers

I've got the same kit on my truck. I'm running Xd Revolvers 17"x9" with Nitto Trail Grapplers, 255/75/17. I still rubbed with even this size.

Hmm.. See I am not going to really be doing much of off roading. It is more for looks, I dont want to kill mileage to bad. I really want the tires to stick out about an inch to 2 inches.

Why not 265/75 R16 ? No rubbing, no problems, and not too bad of a hit on gas mileage.

I have no problem going for a smaller tire, I just want a wide look to the truck. I just don't want to have the tires look skinny on those wheels.

It's more the wheel offset than the tire width that will give you a wide stance. You need to go with a 4.5 backspace wheel (9 inch wide -12 offset for example).

The tires on my truck are skinnier than stock (255/75/17) but the 4.5 backspace gives it an aggressive stance.

Yes.. That is the look I am trying to go for. But I would really like to stick with the my wheel choice.. What size tire do you recommend for that wheel?

A 265/75/16 tire will look similar to my truck on that wheel. You would stick out maybe 1/2" less and your tires would be a little less than 1/2" less in diameter. With the 265s you won't have any rubbing issues and you shouldn't loose too much mileage (unless you are going with a much heavier tire)

Depending on your lift height you will have a little more room in the fenders, I'm only running 1.75 inches of lift. Check out this thread to see some pics of 265s with 3" of lift.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
I went with 285s and im happy i did. Yes i did noticably lose mpg and some power, and had to do some cutting. You just need to decide if it is worth it to you. Your question about wheel width, go with the 8" for 275 or less, 8 or 9 will work fine with 285s

One thing I cannot afford to loose is power.. the 4 banger lacks the power to begin with. I think I am going to go with the 9 inch wheel with the 275's. The truck will have a 2.5 inch lift on it from the toy tech lift out of the box.. Correct?

275/70/16? Thats only a 31" tire. I would go a little bigger with 2.5" of lift.

I am not positive on either wheel, you may have to ask someone with more knowledge, so dont base you decision on what i say will and will not fit. But i heard many times from guys on here that 16" steel wheels do not fit, they hit the brake calipers i think. The only steel wheels in 16" that fit second gens are the wheels the wheelers offroad sells. Plus you said its a 4 banger? Still a 6 lug tho right? So you are concerned about lower loss, find a wheel and tire setup that is going to be light, if you add alot of weight (steel wheels are heavy) you will feel it.
