Powder coating prices?

Ok, well, my Tacoma is scheduled to drop on 20th -28th of this month and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the wheels, lol. I really would like to just powder-coat them, but my new car manager is saying it's $110 a wheel??? Does this sound correct? I've never had ANYTHING power-coated so don't know if this is high or priced right, please anyone chime in. Thanks

 

i've seen prices range from $80-$140 per wheel depending on the size, and the person doing it. the average price for mine was ~$100 and i have 15s

 

They have to sandblast first to get down to the bare material, and then they powder coat it.

 

I have seen some smaller shops do a set for about $300. What you are asking is about right though. That's close to what I charge for hydrographics on wheels.

 

That's ridiculous. That is what you call price gouging the customer. Some of the best powdercoaters don't charge more $60-$80 a wheel, and $110 a wheel is a flat out slap in the face.

 

$110 per wheel for four wheels at a time WITH sandblasting or chemical stripping and proper prepping of the wheels is pretty fair, but this price is definitely on the higher side of the range.

Most of the sandblasters / chemical strippers in So Cal are charging about $35 per wheel, and then the powder coaters are charging anywhere from $35 - $75 per wheel. My experience has been that not all powder coaters are the same either. Check out their work and check their Yelp reviews. Make sure they give you a guarantee, and make sure they are properly prepping your wheels. You'll want the back side of the hub and the inside of the hub taped off, otherwise your wheel won't seat properly on your vehicle.

$110 per wheel WITHOUT sandblasting or stripping this is way too high.

 

When I was looking to get my wheels powder coated my local shops said anywhere from 100-145 per wheel. Seemed rediculous to me seeing as I can get some awesome looking brand new MT wheels for only 120/wheel.

I just said to hell with that and Plasti-Dipped mine. Looks great
