EDIT 4-15-15: Replaced the Dakotas back with Dynapros, photos added.

Well, last Sunday the patch I got in Baja, at Gonzaga Bay (July, 2012) placed over the hole in an earlier patch (I got in Mexicali, Jan. 2012) in my tire, gave out! I drove into my garage after picking something up at Lowes, and heard the air streaming out of my front right tire.

I had Hankook Dynapro ATMs and while I don't think I would have them more than 35,000 miles, it wasn't the best time for this failure! LOL (31,600 miles on them)

So, on a late Sunday afternoon... the only tire shop still open was Pep Boys, and they only had one of the brands available that afternoon, in my size (265/75-16)... The Definity Dakota AT, made by Cooper Tires. I ran them before on my 2001 Tacoma. They are quiet on the highway and worked well on Shell Island. Buy 4 get 1 free, was also nice.

I didn't realize Cooper made them also. I know they make Mastercraft, didn't know they made Definity also.

Well... I am not betting money on it, but that's what Pep Boys personnel told me in 2003 and again, 10 years later when I bought Dakotas again. Anybody want to confirm this? Thanks!

hey hows it going man by any chance did you happen to come across any problem with your tires... I've had them for about 1yr and 4 months with maybe 10k on them and I've got dimples in the side walls on 3 out of 4 tires and the tread ends are dry rotting

Going fine, the tires still look almost new with about 9,000 miles on them. I ran these tires on my 2001 Tacoma and they only lasted 25,000 miles back then. I replace them long before all the tread is gone.

I saw your other post... and I would just go to the Pep Boys store, ask to see the manager, and as calmly as possible (with a smile) ask him about the failure and what is Pep Boys or Cooper's policy on dealing with potentially dangerous tire failure.

It amazes me how some get so much more miles out of a tire... After 25,000 miles I would get flats easily... Maybe it is the Baja dirt roads with sharp volcanic rocks? However, 95% of the miles are daily pavement driving, and at the recommended pressure...

I hope my new Dakotas do better than those I had on my '01 Tacoma (from about 2002-2005) that only gave me 25,000 miles before they had so little rubber left... and Pep Boys replaced them with a 50% discount on the next set (as they are 50,000 mile rated).
    :)

Tires at 13,000 miles and not one problem yet. Dropped them to 25 psi last week for our desert run and they were great off road. Back up to 34 psi for pavement.

At 22,000 miles on the Dakotas, one tire started leaking slowly... Went to Pep Boys (where I bought them) and they were too busy (or under staffed) to check and fix the tire... and they sent me across the street to Discount Tires to let them fix the flat!!!

Discount discovered it was a sidewall leak, and unrepairable. I got some price quotes for replacements, but I had the full warranty with Pep Boys, so the tire would be covered... but I don't want one new tire with three half worn ones on a 4WD. The guy offered to warranty all 4 at approx. 50%... but he couldn't help me that day and didn't have the tires I could switch to (Hankook Dynapros) from the Destiny Dakotas that failed me.

Did a bunch of shopping, and will get new Hankook Dynapro ATMs on my truck tomorrow for just a little more than Pep Boys price with the Dakotas comp'd. It will be a relief as I have had good past experience with Discount.. and they will get the job done in 45 minutes! Pep Boys took 3 hours to install the Dakotas back in 2013... understaffed.

Here are what the Dakotas look like at just 22,000 miles on them:

    Front:

Rear: (whit chalk square is the sidewall leak location)...
    20150414_133508_fadbfed6632a7fb87e1ec3caea22cb91f56efad2.jpg

The tread depth was fairly even at 7/32 across the tires (with a max range between 6/32-8/32, where it wasn't 7/32).

Thanks, I am happy... perhaps the best 'cheap' all terrain tire that I have owned before. I hope they last a little longer than last time (31,000). Now, they had tread still, but I was getting flats, twice on the same tire, so it was time.
