destination LE or BFG Long trail TA Tour

Hi all,

got my 2005 SR5 access cab 4x4 v6 manual a few weeks ago and need new tires. I bought the TRD alloy wheels to replace the steelies. 95% of my driving is highway with light off road at work, I'm in the land business. I'm looking at the BFG Long Trail TA Tour or the Destination LE. I had Destination AT's on my jeep and they killed my mpgs. the LE's are on sale right now too. any experience with either of these?

niether..Both tires suck. Dest ATs are a great choice, just stick with the stock size you'll be fine. i have the general grabber at 2's and I love em..

 

what about MPG's? I'm getting 20 right now on the stock tires.

 

I have had several sets of Destination LE's and thought they were great on my Explorer. For mostly highway driving they did the best for me and didnt kill mpg's. I know firestone has a great deal going on right now and I am looking at the AT's for my 4x4

 

I'll be needing tires soon also.. so much has been said about FS LE and AT and Gen. Grabbers.. they are cheaper in PRICE than most... but how is the tread wear and road noise and ride with these tires? Thanks for your input

That is where I got my grabber's from, they are rated for 60,000 miles. Low road noise and the traction is awesome! I have absolutely no complaints! A guy I work with has the Dest. At's, And he loves them as well. I just think the grabber looks a little better. You can't go wrong with either tire!

 

I'm at Firestone right now getting the LE's. I drove 55K on my Destination A/T's on my grand cherokee and they still have plenty of tread left when I sold it. I loved the ride but they cost me about 2 mpg. I'm also putting alloys on instead of the steelies. Ill give an update on the LE's after some driving. the price is right, 4 for 3, but they make you buy the roadside protection plan for $75.

Here some pics, its still kind of raining out so the pics aren't the best. I really like the tires so far. i've driven in snow, sleet, rain, and had them on modest off road trails. performed well under each scenario and didn't hurt my mpgs.

Mileage update?? How are they holding up for you??

 

haven't been on here in a while, LE's have been on for over a year and a half and I've put 40K on them. they are holding up great, still have a good amount of tread left.

 

I would have went with the BFG's personally. They were designed specifically for light trucks and small SUV's and seem to last longer in most cases. Ever since Firestone had there issues with the Exploders back in the 90's, I've been personally a little leery...
