I have a 2009 Tacoma 4X4. I am getting new tires. The book says to replace the pressure indicators, and they are $90 apiece. I don't need, like them, or really trust them. I can and do check my air pressure the old fashioned way routinely. Can I replace them with regular valve stems? Will I have trouble with the electronics because the indicators are missing? Will I get constant annoying error messages? Do I just need to spend the $360 anyway?
Any info and experience would be greatly appreciated.

If they are working as of now I see no reason to replace them. A light will illuminate on the dash without them being in place I believe.

You only need to replace the rubber grommet, valve core, washer and nut when you replace tires. It's a TMPS rebuild kit. You don't replace the whole sensor every tire change.

You can put regular valve stems in but you will get the yellow tire light about 20 miles later after the change.
