i need new wheels/tires and wanted to make sure i had everything correct prior to ordering or serious shopping. does this sound correct?:

    *Tires - 285/75/16 or 17
    *Wheels 6/5.5, 16 or 17" 4.5 backspacing (ANY OFFSET?)
**what rides better on the road? 16 or 17? any difference?

BTW - i have toytec C/O at 2.5" and 2" blocks out back. I currently run 285/75/16 on polished al rims but can not rember the offset or backspacing.
I rub a little but can fix by going up on C/O some.

it should fit. you probably mean 285/70/17. as far as the offset check this.

better selection with 17" wheels but softer ride with 16" - yeah?

not sure i understood the table for offset - I'm dense!

Also i think i have 8"wide wheels now. how does the width effect the ride?

I think i am sold on the Terra Grapplers as they get good reviews and look good and hopefully deliver a better ride than my BFG A/T.

Lastly, is there a difference in ride quality between chrome and Al? given that they were same size and same tires etc?

sorry for all of the Q's I'm hijacking my own thread here i think......
    thanks

Anything with a negative offset (ie. -12mm) and you should be fine.
