will 265/70/17 on 8.5" wheels still correct the speedo?

i'v read that 265/70/17 correct the speedo, but i am not sure if that means on the stock wheels on not. (7.5")

with an 8.5" rim, i imagine the 'stretching' and bubbling effect may affect the circumference?

a correct speedo is very important to me, another speeding ticket will severely screw me as far as insurance

    :)

Any increase or decrease in MPH on the speedometer is negligible when it comes to changing out rims as long as the size change is not a ridiculous. My myself honestly, I would not stress out over a 1 MPH increase or decrease. I really don't think CHP or local LEO's would give a damn either. I'm just thinking out loud here.

with my stockies and 85% worn tread, i am off by 6mph at highway speed.

i heard the 265/70/17 makes it dead-nuts with GPS

I don't know anything about dead nuts, but I regularly pass by speed trap cameras going slightly faster than the posted limit. I run the size in question and have yet to receive a ticket.

When I went with 265's, my speedometer was reading the same as my GPS. Before with the stock tires, it would read a lot slower. The wider rim wont do anything. As long as the diameter of the TIRE and not so much the WHEEL, I don't think it will matter. Same thing goes for the width
