Need new winters this year. Looking at General artic ultimax. I've had good experience with these on numerous vehicles and they are the exact same thread as the gislaved nordfrost which my old man swears by on his volvos for ever. Tirerack has them in LT. Is it worth the extra cost??
    Thanks

Unless you are off-road, in terrain where tire punctures are a real problem, there is no reason at all to run load range E tires on a Tacoma. They cost more to buy. They cost more to drive, in gas mileage. They hurt accelerating and braking performance. They ride very rough. All bad, if you ask me. In the rocks, maybe, but not for on-road winter tires.

LT doesn't necessarily mean load E. Load C would be fine for a Tacoma and still considered an LT tire. Anything over Load C on a Tacoma is overkill unless, like you said, you need the stronger sidewall for puncture protection.

sorry, just got back to this post. wait for them to go on sale. buy 3 get 4th free. LT245/75r/16 E load $850 taxes and install included. i had over $300 in CDN Tire money, $150 in CT gift cards and General gave me an $80 prepaid VISA card. so what if they're a little heftier but after all the money and cards and rebates i had, i only paid $320 for the tires. couldn't go wrong.

just west of the GTA for me - Guelph
