I have a 3" lift and 4.5 backspace rims and I am going to do a CMC. Is that all that I will have to do except some trimming of the front fender to clear 285/70/17? Someone said I would have trim the back fender?

Is this for a second generation ('05+) Tacoma?

What tires do you plan to install?

    How wide are your wheels?

Before you perform a cab-mount-chop (CMC) on a 2nd Gen Tacoma know that I have installed 285/70R17 all-terrain tires on a number of Tacomas with 8" wide wheels / 4.5" back spacing (0mm offset) and the truck did not require a CMC.

Certain 285/70R17 all-terrain tires that run taller and wider may require a CMC, and just about all of the 285/70R17 maximum-terrain (aka M/T or mud terrain) tires will require a CMC.

You won't have to touch the rear fenders regardless. You will have to trim the front fender liner and a small portion of the plastic front over fenders as well as remove the front mud flaps.
