Hopefully not an issue?? Check the load rating on the rims... designed for a camry, rolling on a truck.... load rating should be stamped somewhere on the rim....

Same wheels I think are used on the Sienna which is heavier than the Tacoma.

K&N Drop in, Bilstein 5100's in front with Readylift kit on top for a 3 in. lift in the front and a 1 in. block in the rear. Next project is going to be TRD Supercharger and Camburg coilover long travel system with custom skid plate and tubes. Maybe some new tires and wheels then..
    Looks cool..

whats the biggest tires you can put on a 2wd taco? i got quotes on at least a 30" tire with a little bit of rubbing. im trying to stay away from getting a lift.

I like this modification. I'm finding lots of 17" 5 lug, Camry/Solara/Sienna wheels on eBay (but no 15 or 16) - would these work? I wonder how big (in total diameter) you can go with the tires before you have to start worrying about clearance issues . . .

    Thanks, JB

Opps, now I see the post directly above (duh) - but does this apply to the 2WD standard cab base model?

The base 2wd standard cabs and access cabs both use the same wheels.

Just did my very own (very unscientific) measurements, on my 08 Tacoma. My stock wheel with the low budget Firestone measures ~ 26" (with ~ 30# PSI). But my wheel well from street to bottom of fender is ~ 31". I wouldn't think anything more than 27-28" would clear without some rubbing . . . Am I missing something?

For every inch you increase the tire size it will raise the truck a 1/2 inch?

So then I guess my question is: How many inches of clearance (or suspension travel) do I need to safely allow for?

Cool! Thanks for the info. And you've never had any rubbing? I guess maybe if you were doing 50MPH, and turning, while crossing over railroad tracks! ;). My current tires are P215/70R15 - looks like I could go a fair amount larger. The stock tire/wheel combo just looks too small (to me), even on the standard cab.
Did you notice much of a speedometer error? How does gas mileage read, higher or lower? (my little peanut brain for some reason can't comprehend the math involved). Sorry so many questions . . .

Thanks for your patience Dude. BTW - I grew up in the Oakland hills, and now live ~ 30miles NE of you. Small world.
So far my MPG was only 20.5 on the first tank - but I'm guessing (hoping) that will improve once it's all broken in.

About to take in a 99 tacoma trd v6 to be crushed. (THink it will fail). Has new goodyear 31x10.5x15 tires on it. Do you think I can fit them without a lift on a new 2wd access 2.7 auto? New rims too? Just sell them? Your truck looks great!

So do you use your GPS to figure mileage per tank?

It would seem to me since you've got oversized tires your speedometer AND odometer are going to be wrong.

How did the financing go on that? Was it easy? I was thinking of upgrading to a prerunner, but wasnt sure what kinda hit I would take on trade being a 08. i know there is a 2k rebate right now on 08's. But that still isnt enough to offset the drive off lot hit.

I bought my 4WD Tacoma in California and at the time I bought, I got 0% interest rate for (36) months. There was only a $500 rebate when I bought mine and I went for the 0% interest instead of the rebate.

The dealer was also trying to get me to buy a Tundra at 0% financing at
    (60) months with a 3K rebate, but the gas mileage on them was so bad, I declined.

Because I went from steel wheels to alloy, I replaced all (4) tpms and they were around $77.00 each from 1sttoyotapart.com......very expensive, if you can find them on ebay, you can save a lot money....i tried ebay and at that time, i could only find a set of two on ebay and i needed four....

Some folks modify them, turning them backwards and they work, some use some type of foam and get them to work......some just dont put them back on......i ended up selling my old tires and wheels, so i was able to justify the cost.....
