Increase tire size?

I have 2009 Tacoma Double cab TRD Off-Road.

I currently have 265/75 R16 tires; if i add 1.25" spacers would i be able to up the tire size to 285/85 without getting any rubbing?

Anybody have any experience with that?

This is without a lift, just looking for a little more aggressive look and a little extra ground clearance from the increased sidewall size from 75 to 85.

Are you stock height?? No way could you run that big of a tire. 285/85? That's a typo.

I assume you meant 285/75?

Or would 275/85 be better without a lift and 1.25" spacers?

Not going to happen, I guess it could if you weren't going to turn... There is no point and it would hinder your steering useless... Your tire size is perfect with no lift. Why do you want 285's?

I've read a couple 2nd gens say they fit 255/85/16 with only slight rubbing. Might want to consider that size. It's slightly taller than the 285/75 but skinnier.

I was looking to push the tire out from the wheel wells for a more aggressive look. If i stayed with the 265 but went up on the sidewall number to 85's would that add a 1/2" approx. in ground clearance? The tire calculator indicates that it would, does that make sense? I am interested in lifting it down the road, maybe next summer.

Are lifts easy to install?

Did you do your own?

If you have some time I'm sure you could get it done on your own. Also a friend or a couple friends would really help. My brother and I did mine and it took 2 hours for the front Coilovers and about 5 hours for the new leaf packs.

thanks for the info. After reading a little more i have found that even with a lift kit most decide to stay with the 265/75 as they seem to perform the best off-road.
