I was just informed by my (very reputable and honest) tire supplier that he could no longer get the Wrangler Duratracs in my size (245/75/16) because they are being discontinued shortly and production of certain sizes has already ceased.

Indeed, looking on Tirerack I found that they had "Less than 6 remaining" available. It said additional were due 11/12 (Today!), so I called and all the salesperson could tell me was that even though it was written as more were due, in fact they had no way of knowing if more were actually going to come in and, as of 11/12, no new tires had come.

    Anyone hear anything about this?

That's surprising. They sell well enough to not discontinue. Wrangler going under or something?

well hopefully it's just a few sizes since so many ppl seem to really like these tires. i wish they'd come out in a 255/85/16 but blah blah ... guess you will need to buy 265's!

Both of those are good tires but neither are Severe Winter Weather rated (Mountain/snowflake symbol) like the Duratracs are. :(

Damn, despite some peoples dislike for them they are a great winter/all season/ moderate offroad tire. I love mine, especially when the flakes start to fly.

Hopefully they make s second version like the km2. I would love more 15" sizes, ie 32x 11.5 or 33x10.5...

if they do, i sure hope they do something about the paper thin sidewall. I still won't run them just because i need more than an AT can give, but it would be nice to not see one get cut open every single wheeling meet.

I have the authorities. Slight tread/sidewall lug difference. Still made by Goodyear, just sold through Walmart. Very little difference

functionally (performance wise), there's not a very big difference. real reason you see more duratracs is because you can get them in the bigger sizes. authorities are only offered up to a 265 or something if my memory serves...

Correct, the largest size in any way shape or form on the authorities is a 32" tire.

I have run both and can tell you right now that when you actually get out and push them in mud or snow or even some on rocks, you cant tell the difference between the two.

I didn't know about the Wrangler Authorities.

I see they are indeed basically the same tire. They even have the Mountain/Snowflake rating.

Going to check them out at my WalMart.
