This is my first time buying tires for a truck, ive grown up around trucks but i need your advice on what kind and size to get. So here we go, i either want an aggressive A/T or mud terrain. Looking to stay around 1000. and i would like to keep good gas millage.

    *NOTE*
Staying with stock rims for now
I like the BFG AT and General Grabber RED LETTER

I just bought some Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 for my '14 Taco. I have been very pleased. I had owned these for 4 years on my '06 Xterra, and it worked extremely well for the occasional off-road and winter of Colorado. Not overly aggressive, yet handled my needs well. Quiet on highway.

That last part about gas mileage: you'll have to stick with 265/75R16 or 265/70R17. Bigger than that and mileage will start to suffer. Maybe 255/85s, but then you run into the weight of an E load tire. Stick with a C load for weight savings.

I think the BFG TA KO is a good tire for eastern conditions, but I wouldn't consider it an aggressive A/T.

Oh--I just noticed yours is a 4cyl.--tough little engines--now what I said about size is even more important.

Duratracs have a good rep on here. I think you can get them in C range as well. I have Hankook Dynapro MT 285's on my truck, load range E, and they are pretty heavy. Didn't take too much of a hit on mileage but it's even more gutless on the highway now.

I would go with 265s for mileage, especially on stock rims. Not sure what all fits on the stock ones or if you're lifted. Larger will not fit without some lift.

The BFG AT and General Reds are very different tread patterns. Not sure the Generals would be too fun in snow if you see it in KY.

From what you described I would check out Duratracs if you can find them, they were what I wanted originally but were all back ordered. In hind sight, I am very happy with the Hankooks and would buy them again. I am curious about the DTs though.

Aggressive tires are heavy man! your gas mileage will suffer if you wanna go that route. It’s one or the other really. If you like chunky aggressive tires our gonna pay for it. I am the same way though. As another member already said, the wrangler duratracs come in a c load range and are super knarly looking. thats about as good as it gets.

I have had Duratracs in 265-75-16 and KM2's in 255/85/16. I love them both but as you will find with all tires they will all have pros and cons. The duratracs are lighter and smaller so gas mileage will be generally better except in constant highway conditions where the taller skinnier tire has done better for me. The duratracs will also wear a little faster due to the lower ply rating. Both have great tread and should handle anything you want them to. Some people complain about the KM2's in snow or ice but I have no complaints at all. The KM2's are noisier on the road but should wear a little better being a heavier duty tire. They also will be better for more technical offroading if you decide to get into that. From what you have said you will probably be pretty happy with Duratracs.

Cooper discover ATP's on mine. tires were 600 at my local discount tire. they are not aggressive at all and ride great on the road so i was really surprised at how good they pulled in the mud and then cleaned....

I put Firestone Destination A/Ts on my '14 DCSB and have been very happy. They are quiet on the highway and handled over a foot of snow easily a couple weeks ago. Lost about 1 mpg over the stock Dunlops.

Does anyone know what kinda wheels these are? They came with my truck but have absolutely no markings on them. I need to find the manufacturer and order another one so my spare wont looks mismatched sitting on my tiregate.
