Anybody had the Cooper discoverer s/ts'? Saw them today at a local tire shop and was really impressed with the look. Supposed to be a hybrid between a at mt and road tire. Designed for lighter weight trucks and SUVs.

    265 70 17 were 170 a piece.

Yeah, I've had Cooper Discoverer S/T's on my truck since the second day that I drove it off the lot. They have about 45k miles on them now and still have plenty of life left in them (I'm guessing at least 10 - 20k more). I take it easy on my truck though and don't peel out or anything. I'll be putting them on my wife's Sequoia next week so I can upgrade to some TW 285's.

I've lived in Montana, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas and South Dakota with them. And they do great in different weather conditions and regions. Snow and ice are no problem. I've done a little off roading and mudding in FL, TX and SD with no problems. They seem to clean out well and are pretty quiet on the road. A little louder than the stock Rugged Trails, IIRC (I only had stock tires on for 1 day).

All around, I think they are a good AT tire. A lot cheaper than the more popular BFG AT's and they last longer from what I've read. They make the truck look beefier than stock but not as beefy as a MT tire.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I went 63,00 miles on a set of 265/75-16 load range C. Replaced with 255/85-16 in same tire. Great wear, ride and traction.

I've got them on a Ford F-350. Since they don't come as a 'passenger' rated tire, only as a 'light truck' (LT), they're too heavy and stiff for my taste on the Tacoma. Other than that, they're great tires. I've got the A/T3's on the Taco.

I had them on my 96 cummins in 255/85-16. I actually ran 2 sets with winter ones being studded. Great tire!

I ran them on my old cummins in a 285/70R17. They were a decent tire, but they chunked out a little, but that truck was heavy, and I abused them. My dad has the ST maxx on his taco and is happy with them.

i just put my 255/85/16 ST's mounted on oem rims back on to rest my ST maxxes. I like the ST in that size, but needs a narrow rim, like the oem. I had switched to an 8inch wide rim, SCS F5, but the 255/85/16 ST's just don't look right on an 8 inch rim. I remounted on the oem's, and bought a set of ST/MAXX in 285/75/16 mounted on the SCS F5. really like the ST/MAXX, has less highway noise, and the extra volume in the 285 is more versatile. like stated, I just put the ST's back on the truck to get more milage out of them while I'm not doing desert gravel, thereby 'resting' my ST/MAXX. Having driven both tires, I really prefer the ST/MAXX for off road and they are quieter on the highway. for me the 255/85/16 looks cool on a black steel rimIMG_2722.jpg

Got more pics of the 255/85's? I have a 13 regular cab 2" level and have 265/75 now but want taller. Just wondering if I'll clear 255/85s. I'll be keeping stock steel 16"

be sure check the ST/MAXX in the 255, slightly less in diameter.

True, 48 vs. 54 lbs. But not enough to deter me from the best LT tire I've owned to date
