^ then when they charge you to install them, they are the same price as everything else. They are only about $15 cheaper a tire to start with

Hankook Dynapro A/T's. Just wanted to add to the good reviews by saying that these tires kick aaassss. 10X better in everything from pavement to dirt than the Goodyear Duratracs I had before.

Looks like the same tread pattern at their AT3 just with a lot more siping.

If you buy from Discount also look at Cooper ATP. They look to be essentially the same tread pattern at the Hankooks.

I bought AT3s last fall and I was happy with their performance in winter (though here in W.PA we don't get as much snow as upstate NY does.)

The LTs are going to run almost $100 more over the P-rated. Unless you're airing down a lot and rubbing on rocks or hauling heavy loads, there is no real advantage to an LT tire over the P rated. Plus the LTs don't have the tire warranty, whereas the P rated do.

If I were you, I'd look hard at the Cooper ATW linked above.

The ATW is a new tire for Cooper and has different blends of rubber to make them more flexible in cold weather...as well as more silica, for the wet weather traction.. all the siping is what helps them work In the snow, and give it that snowflake rating, I work for Cooper Tire, and I can tell ya that the ATW and ATP as well as the AT3 are all different, from the way they are built to the tread patterns, some tread patterns may look similar but there not...

You sound like a great resource for us Cooper fans. Just curious, do you prefer the ATP's or the AT3's? What is your thoughts on the ATP's?

The ATP and AT3 are both great tires, the AT3 was just rated the best AT tire by consumer reports,(IIRC) and many other reviewers have loved them, I had a set on my truck before I got my ST Maxx tires, and they were great I really didn't need new ones but I wanted them, and figured I'd use my discount.., but the AT3 moves water like no other tire I've had, until my MAXX's..but they have deeper lugs... As for the ATP's they are fantastic as well but I've never had a chance to drive on a set, all the reviews on them are right up there with the at3, the ATP has a little bit more tread depth, and bigger lugs as well, and is not as quiet as the at3..but it's a great tire... It has the same specs as the At3 as far as tread life and UTQG ratings of 560 but built on a different platform and uses different rubber compounds inside... Hope this helps ? Really can't go wrong withe either choice IMO...

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have become a huge fan of Cooper tires for my Tacoma. I have the ATP's right now and I really like them, but I often wonder if I should have purchased the AT3's because of all the positive feedback from owners. I don't think there as as many guys running the ATP's just because they are a Discount Tire special, but they are a great AT as well for sure.

    Wouldn't you like to know!

So I rode the ATP'S for about 4 months or so, had Discount balance them 3 different times. Also had to replace 2 tires over that time(under warranty $20) as well because of a big piece of sheet metal and also 2 nails going in at separate angles that was unpatchable. SO I was experiencing a very noticeable wheel wobble at 55-65 mph the whole time I had these tires. I kept bugging discount about it and finally they said, lets go with a different tire and see if that fixes the problem, I went with my original choice of Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/75-16. Truck rides fine now with no wheel wobble. Discount in Lakeway, TX was nice enough to give me full credit for the coopers and I only paid the difference on the tires not for install and everything(they even gave me another gift card to compensate a little more so that was cool of them). So I can only speculate that the ATP's were not a great suit for my Taco. Hope this feedback will help out someone!

So far, still really like the Cooper ST Maxx.
They did great ar the TLCA event this last weekend. I aired down to 20 in the rear, 25 in the front, figuring I could air down more if needed, but, I never felt them slipping.
Gen1 DCSB next to me had them as well, he aired down to 18 and we did most of the same trails together.

265/75/16 on 2.5" Ironman lift. Didn't rub anywhere all weekend.

I am currently running Cooper AT3 and absolutely love them. Stick very well in the rain and broke them in at Uwharrie within a week. Did great on the wet clay trails!

I'm liking the Cooper ST Maxxs, but I wish they had some more options on the plys. Dropping even more mpg bc of the extra weight would suck considering the amount I drive. Altho a more durable tire would be nice.

For those who do have them in a 265/70/17 or close to that size and had a lighter tire before, if you calculated before and after, what difference in mpg has there been?

Mine ride great and I have a few friends that ride them and they have no complaints either, sounds like you got a bad tire or they did a poor job with the balancing.

I got tires from Pepboy's a few years back. Truck was still newish with only 45K miles on it. Truck rode like crap, steering wheel vibrated as if they were not balanced. I finally after three months took it to another tire place and was going to pay to have them balanced. Manager comes to get me and says follow me. He had one of the tires on the balance machine and turned it on. He said, Sir I can't balance out of round tires and only one of the 4 is OK, the other three are out of round. Made by Cooper. I made Pep Boys refund my money on three of them and I kept the good one for my spare since I had changed profiles. Got Hankook tires and never looked back. I got 73,500 out of my first set of ATM tires from Hankook and I am about 20K into my second set now.
