Ok, so I just bought a Bilstein 5100 3" lift kit online and Total Chaos UCAs. I also have 1.75" wheel spacers that should be here any day now.

I'm going to get 17" wheels once I decide what size tires I want. My question is, what are the largest tires I'll be able to fit without any rubbing with this setup? I've been putting off ordering wheels and tires mainly because the whole sizing thing makes me feel like a blonde

    I am not a blonde.

Thanks in advance for any help.

John, the most common size for a 3" lift is 285/70/17 which is a 33" tire. You'll get some rub, but it's nothing major that can't be taken care of. If you're afraid of doing the cab mount chop, I'd suggest you go with a slightly smaller size like a 275/70/17 and add as much caster as you can when you do your alignment.

If you plan on buying aftermarket wheels anytime soon, you should consider returning those spacers. If you purchase the right backspacing, there's no need to run spacers. Save your money!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I have a few more questions. You say, with the right backspacing, I won't need to run spacers.

    1. What would be the minimum backspacing to clear the UCAs (assuming that's the first thing the rim/tire will rub on)?

    2. How does that translate to offset on a 8.5" wide wheel?

    3. What is more of an issue as far as rubbing; too much backspacing or too little?

    Thanks again.
