It wont do any harm. A large percentage of tacoma owners are running 265/70/17, me included. You could also get 255/75/17 with no problems. There is a ton of useful info in the sticky threads at the top of the wheel/tire section. Some tire installers might have you sign a waiver to acknowledge they are putting on tires that are bigger then stock (ive heard of walmart doing this).

Also a 265/70/17 is (I THINK) considered a LT tire and not a "P" rated tire. I know my Duratracs at 265/75/16 is considered LT anyway. Im assuming that basicly the same size tire for a 17 inch wheel would be too.

check the weight of the tire too.

I had a little "oversight" in this area and went with tires that were 10lbs heavier per tire. I lost about 2.5 mpgs....

Thank you so much guys. This is very useful info. The guy im working with told me he can give me just $600 for all 4 stock tires/wheels, trade in. The market value is 3000, I tried to reason with him..but he did not raise the value. Any suggestions as to where i can get a better offer on trade ins.

This. Take the trade in price...your stock stuff is worth nowhere near $3,000. $600 is a good offer.

X2. Just because that is what it costs from Toyota to buy new, doesn't mean that is what is worth on the market.

I wish somebody would offer me that for my wheels and tires, I'd be all over that deal and on my way to something better in a heartbeat.
