BTW I don't think you can do this with a second gen truck that has had the computer reflashed along with the pedal , floor mat replacement etc. Applying the gas and brake at the same time will cause the truck to go into some kind of limp mode.

I've had this problem in the past myself with a different vehicle.

You aren't lifted right? Does axle wrap exist on a stock, unaltered suspension?

Either way.... you don't need those "helper" springs. All you need is the hardware (or equiv.) from that kit. Clamp down both sides of the over load spring (flat spring on the stock leaf pack) to the leaf pack. It accomplishes the same thing and you'll save yourself about $100 or more. See post #11 from the link you posted...... I had it that way on my truck before I installed my AP's.

Edit: Axle wrap will not cause rotor warping though.....fyi

not lifted...stock suspension (as far as i know). i got it just the way you see it in my signature pic there. i'm gonna do as you say and add the hardware from post #11 of that link. hopefully i can get to it this weekend and post results.

thanks a million for the help and replies.

also gonna do the tests suggested by BamaToy1997 and see if i can figure out why my rotors are warping so often.

Yes, either his leafs are shot (like mine) or his U bolts are not torques properly.

Maybe your front calipers are dragging, and not going back to"float"are you going through brake pads faster than normal? Try this go and drive your tacoma on flat ground if possible for awhile, slow down with no brakes if possible, maybe use your e brake to stop fully get out and feel your front wheels and rotors they should not be hot. Another sign of sticking calipers is a lot of brake dust on your front wheels.with normal driving conditions.

Sounds like over worked front brakes due to rear brakes not working properly.

It may have been mentioned already, but improper lug nut torque can warp the rotor now matter how the good brand is.

One common cause of warped rotors on our trucks is a leaking rear axle seal. Gear oil seeps into the drum and then you effectively have no rear brakes on one or both sides. Check for gear oil smell around your drums (or pull the drums and look inside). I went through three sets of rotors until I replaced my axle seals.

As LJ mentioned in post #8, the 'warped' rotors usually aren't really warped at first, they're just coated unevenly with pad material which causes the pulsing. This explains it pretty well:

Interesting never heard about this or had it happen yet. I never warped my rotors. Op are you really hard on the brakes? Some people really love hitting the brakes hard.

You want to "bed-in" the pads and rotors. Please do this safely away from other vehicles.

Not a hard braker.....at least not any more. Perhaps i used to be but i've been conscious of my braking habits for a long time now....trying to avoid warped rotors.

the 'bed-in' process seems like it would be more for performance rotors/cars. I read thru it and it does make sense...after if the steps mentioned above dont work...i'll give it a try.

Yes. In a sense, they will look like that. The correct "U" bolts, aren't really shaped like a "U"....they are more like a square....meaning there are right angles instead of a "U" shape. Does that make sense?

Edit: Found this. May not be the correct size but you get the idea......

Tell you what.... Why don't you just paypal me $15 for a small flat rate USPS box and my time, and I'll give you my old ones...... They are still in great shape, and they have the top plate already.

I have a similar issue and found it was the caliper sticking. I went through a set of pads on the drivers side in 4 months because of this. Not to mention the warping of my rotors.
